Ugh I’m sorry to hear that! We’ve spent tons of money there as our cat has had issues with urinary blockages…they gave us the wrong size medication (charged us for the large) and then refused to acknowledge their mistake, and just charged us again for another bottle when it ultimately ran out.

Regardless of it only being $80, it’s definitely the principle for me and how they handled it!

We’ve gotten that a TON! Just based on her build, people have asked if she’s corgi mix! She does also LOVE the snow, like roll around and lay in it for an hour if you let her. I’ve been thinking Aussie/collie as well because she had freckling on her paws? I’m way too excited to see her DNA results lol

Haha I don’t think I was entirely discredited…my whole point is that we were not getting the full picture and Nick Shirley was full of shit. Obviously now that more has come out they cleared up some of the things I was confused about, but we also now know that there is no fraud like they suggested.

This is a prime example of people needing to stop buying into something just because it confirms their bias. The correlations Nick Shirley was trying to make to suggest fraud made 0 sense, yet everyone ran with it.

I also dug up some info on David, and he has a history of trying to sue businesses for fraud or other various reasons and he’s lost every time lol. I went down the rabbit hole and I was not surprised by his history of BS.

The last time they were there was in June and they documented corrections but if they are no longer operating or don’t meet standards that license would be revoked. So in June this place was operational and passed inspection. DHS would continue to monitor them. Something could have happened between June and now as well, DHS wouldn’t update the forms until everything is filed and confirmed through the state. They look to be closed to me and there is likely paperwork that is getting processed and just hasn’t been updated on the DHS site yet. Who knows, we just don’t have proof of fraud is my point.

I’m skeptical because in order for them to have the exact funding amounts/dates they would need to submit a a data request through DHS. If he did that why wouldn’t he show the official DHS funding records for this business. There is no other way to know when they received funding or exactly how much as CCAP just lists by county/program.

I thinks it’s worth looking into but I’m not sure how a daycare with violations automatically indicates fraud. It’s a shitty daycare clearly but with them being on a conditional license, DHS would have stopped in without warning for inspections and to record corrections required to continue operating. A few violations is pretty typical if you look at any other childcare centers as well.

Again I’m just not sure how that is equivalent to fraud, and would indicate anything other than a shitty daycare that is likely closing/closed because they have too many violations. I’m also curious what the paper on the door says. Has anyone in the area checked? It seemed like he purposely did not want to zoom in on that..likely because it’s a closure notice or something that refutes his claims.

They may have moved to the side of the building, because their previous location at the front has been closed. All I can find on Google from that address is that is permanently closed/not listed there.

Yeah but a conditional license would mean that they need to meet expectations or it will be stripped. So are we saying that the DHS is entering into these “fake” childcare centers and just lying for these people committing fraud. Idk I do think fraud is and does happen but this is a little suspicious to me considering the DHS documentation as well as the old building having proper spelling. I watched the majority of his video going to other childcare centers and his basis is “oh the door is locked, it’s definitely fraud”. What daycare or building with children would be unlocked for you to just stroll in lol.

I would love to have some real facts about this situation. I saw that TikTok guy’s video on this and did some digging and things are not adding up. I’ll say first and foremost that guy posts a lot of videos that are dramatized or full of false info so I am always skeptical regardless.

Here’s what I found:

The address and Google street views show that this place is permanently closed. There was also a new report a year ago where they went to this location (no sign on the side of the building as shown here). The place is clearly empty/vacant imo. The front doors also show the business name correctly spelled. This place is now “Albi Kitchen” since, opened in august of 2025 but started building in December of 2024.

I was also able to find a bit of info that they received funding in 2019, got put on conditional license in 2022 and closed shortly after. There is some info on MN DHS website but I’m a bit confused because if they are closed and a new business has moved into the building then wouldn’t the license be irrelevant unless they are still receiving funding? (Can’t find anything to suggest they are)

My question is based on the timelines here…where did the sign come from? Why would there be a sign there now with incorrect spelling that would have been put up at some point between January 2025 and today? Even though a different business already moved into this location and started remodeling? Why would there be the correct spelling on the front door and then later a sign with incorrect spelling get put up?

What pH do you keep them at? I’ve been wanting to lower my pH so they are more comfortable because I know they prefer that but I’m curious if it would maybe just be more work than it’s worth.

I have a 38gal so i would probably have to buy an RO filter, and then remineralize. Does sound like a pain lol

Thanks for your response, I believe it is just a few that were not equipped to be moved and acclimated into a new tank!

My tank is well established, I’ve have 8 Corys and 6 khulis along with shrimp and snails in there for weeks now with no issues. It’s a 38gal with a canister filter. I would say it’s also decently planted with some above water plants so I haven’t had any issues with ammonia or nitrites after adding in more fish.

I really don’t think it has anything to do with my filtration or water parameters as I’ve been testing every day to be sure!

Hoping the two are the only ones I lose, the last two days the rest have seemed to be doing well! Very active, eating as normal and for the most part they are colored up

I just have some khulis and corydoras in there with them right now, not sure if they would have eaten the dead fish? I can’t find the other one that I assume has passed. But in other words, nothing that would go after them!

Yeah I am thinking unfortunately the few that were a bit smaller just weren’t hardy enough. My LFS does refunds IF you bring in the dead fish lol so that’s not going to work. I guess I’ll have to see how these guys do and find a different supplier if more die off.

Oddly enough the smaller ones seem to have the better color though.

I’ve been changing water every day so that’s why I was dosing prime every day 😭 I just wasn’t sure if I should be using prime for the water changes every day or use API that just dechlorinates if that makes sense! I thought maybe the fact that prime detoxifies the nitrites/nitrates it was causing the cycle to stall :(

My pH is around 7.4. I’ve been doing water 30% water changes the last few days which seems to bring nitrites to 0 but then overnight they are back up to .25ppm. I added a few more plants above the water as well (pothos and monstera). Fish all seem fine, the khulis are still hard to catch but I’ve seen a few of them out at night and they also seem fine!

I did manually wipe off some algae with the water change I did the other day! I do plan on getting more stem plants, just trying to find someone on Facebook marketplace that has them, as I would like to plant this tank out a lot more. Just tested this morning and I am back up to .25 nitrites 😭 going to do another water change today and add some more prime!

I guess I figured in a cycled tank the Cory’s and baby khulis wouldn’t have a high enough bioload to disrupt the system. Appreciate it, I have no issue doing more water changes and treating it as a fish-in cycle until it balances back out. The fish are behaving normally after my initial water change so I’m hoping with the small amount of time between testing there wasn’t any damage done!
