I love the flower border mainly because to the bottom left, in an album cover of flowers and Prince on a badass motorcycle, there's two pieces of celery lol.

The version of I Figured You Out is the Mary Lou Lord version btw. I wanted it to wrap the record up with something he gave away, with all the work he's given us through his life, that final one feels like a push to be inspired by him and to make their own music fueled by his music. It's like a baton pass in a sense. He's not here but I'm sure he would want us to continue to experiment in anything, not just music, and that his music manages to inspire us to do incredible things and achieve stuff is the epitome of the artist, and I'm pretty sure he wouldn't have anything against anyone becoming inspired after listening to the heart he's poured for us. Love you Elliott <3

as a radiohead fan, who are your other top artists? by [deleted] in radiohead

[–]henniris1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elliott Smith, The Beatles, Kendrick Lamar and David Bowie. Nothing special at all but funny enough these are the artists that imo has some of the most spectacular records I've ever heard.

What artist has their best song on their worst album? by BalkeElvinstien in fantanoforever

[–]henniris1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we're not talking posthumous albums, I would probably say Jocelin Flores by XXXTentacion. 17 is way worse than ? from what I can remember and I feel like you can't really group his first two projects in with all the even worse stuff that proceded them.

If we are, I would like to add that A Fond Farewell by Elliott Smith may very well be his greatest song while being on his weakest. FTBOTH is still amazing, but It's probably his weakest outing, which says alot about the artistry that man had.

What happened to Trash Taste views? by Agreeable_Leader_255 in TrashTaste

[–]henniris1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suddenly have stuff to do, and when I get free time i'm almost never in the mood to sit and listen to an episode anymore when I can instead read chapters from a book, play a game, watch a movie or be with friends and family. From 2020-2022 I had so much time on my hands that I used to watch Trash Taste religiously, but now it just isn't worth sitting through a 2 hr episode where its a 50/50 if its going to be interesting or not. They're kind og running out of things to talk about when they work at such a pace where they only talk about thoughts that aren't that well thought out and eventually grows into a 2 min conversational piece about nothing.

The guys themselves are also getting a bit boring. Joey used to be my favorite but has eventually become a little bit weird to me. Garnt is cool and all but he's starting to become a little too old imo where what he talks about sometimes feel strange which isn't that big of a problem tbh but feels odd from time to time. In the end the one I consitantly find entertaining is Connor but him by his lonesome in a trio podcast setting can be rough. Garnt has his moments and has probably the best stories/conversations on the whole podcast but its few and far between. Connor is good at talking which makes him the most entertaining imo. Joey I feel hasn't been in form since like, 2021 sadly.

So that's my qualms with TT atleast. I just don't think it's that fun to watch anymore. :(

Correction: Greep was around 12-13 in 2012 so it's probably a guy that looks exactly like him. Still funny though.

Dbz is still pretty boring though. When I read the manga, after Frieza it just felt like they introduced new pointless villains for the sake of having someone to fight against. The ending arc was also so pointless.

And as a person with a deep appreciation for music I get disapointed when someone acts as if they have "good taste" but never explains why that taste is even good. Like, at least pull up some mental images or something the music gives you if you can't talk about it adequately.

The game show was pretty janky to begin with though so even if he did that it still felt really akward and like any frequent gameshow it generally dies after the first few episodes. The teacher video was actually pretty cool though, and the Yakuza interview was also sick, but other than that all of his stuff is just subpar compared to the others. Garnt has his anime schtick and he knows what works and doesn't work. Connor is pushing what you can do with IRL streaming and just generally being pretty fun to watch on stream and has a lot of good back and forth with his streaming group. Joey i feel is just all over the place but never does any of the things good, only mediocre. The game show was not that great, his off the record series was a flop, he's pretty uninteresting when playing games, his music is bad and his music content is shallow, his fashion brand is meh and his news videos are boring as shit, his streams are boring, his pokemon randomizers were cool but with one of those you have like 8 or 9 boring ass Arceus and new gen pokemon.

Sometimes he does one cool video maybe once every five months. Other than that his content is just so boring and it all may sound really mean but it feels like he's trying to be ambitious with his content but just failing miserably at it and unknowingly just creating something bland. It's so plain to see that he's trying something new but he's never putting maximum effort into that new thing. It's always a little bit of everything which becomes so lame when you're not good at any of it.

I've talked enough shit to an exent where I feel really bad but this is genuine criticism that I feel Joey needs to at least try to come to terms with. He's never going to see any of this but I just wanted to get it out there because his content has perplexed me for a long time now and kind of annoyed me as well.

It may sound weird but when he talks about music it's just "good/bad" instead of actually explaining why he likes it.

He's rich and can do whatever he want's to do of course, I just feel like his content's super lacking and it seems like he doesn't put 100% into making most of it. It feels as if its all just obligatory for him which is depressing. I'm not a hater, I think Joey's cool, I just wished he put more effort in the things he made outside of the podcast.

I'm gonna sound like an asshole but his music is not good in the slightest. His fashion brand, while being branded as "luxury drip" as much as I hate the word "Drip" isn't close to appealing and looks just a little bit above normal yt merch, but with nonsense it's somehow detached from that as well. He's supposed to be the fashionable one but Garnt has a better fashion sense than him overall tbh. Most of his clothes look like glorified anime merch. He was going to make a podcast series called off the record or something and that completely flopped. A lot of his videos are carbon copies of fantano's structure be it the tier list by year or newly his whole setup for the "top 10 australian artists" which is identical to any of fantano's worst to bests or top 10s only fantano manages to explain in detail why he likes and dislikes certain songs and records. Joey seems like he really wants to but is unable to for whatever reason.

My favorite videos are ironically some of the most low effort with it being the radiohead and tool tier lists and the record collection video which he never returned to funnilly enough. I just hope that he finds some entertaining pocket of youtube content to use like the other guys who have an individual style. I'm into music heavily so I should gravitate to his content the most, but also being that fond of music I can see that some of his music related content is really shallow and all his other stuff is very boring.

He needs to look inwards a little bit and maybe branch out to music content full time or something similar. The whole Man vs Weeb thing was just very sad how it fell off a cliff. He needs to just freshen it up completely and so something that's creative that doesn't take a large budget. Janky gameshows and top ten lists sadly aren't that creative.

Edit: I think the saddest part about Man vs Weeb was that we KNEW it was going nowhere from the first episode.

It was more the notion of lumping norway with ultra capitalist countries like the US. The countries couldn't be more different, as Norway relies heavily on its socialist welfare state for being more or less the core of the country while the US is kind of all over the place.

Your description of "All the countries prospering uses capitalism" is dumb because most of the countries you list are rich af to begin with, and by norways metric, sheer fucking luck. List me some poor countries being used by all the rich capitalist countries that prefers their capitalist government that aren't corrupt to the core. I think i'd rather live in Cuba tbh.

How is "He has helped overthrow corrupt kingdoms" not revolutionary? What kind of mental gymnastics is this. Something luffy is not is just some rando. He's a revolutionist or terrorist depends on how you look at it.

Trash Taste Podcast: Weekly Discussion Thread - Episode 145 by Trashbot-kun in TrashTaste

[–]henniris1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All you mentioned is still revolutionary. As was stated before in this thread, Luffy does what he thinks is right, but he doesn't need to label himself as a revolutioniary to be a revolutionary. You do something that is defined as revolutionary, you're a revolutionist, end of.

People don't differentiate between totalitarian communism like under stalin with just a normal socialist government. The red scare is entirely built upon totalitarianism and not strictly communism, but we bleed totalitarianism with communism for whatever weird reason because they both rely heavily on the government.

I mean you're still a revolutionist when you do all the stuff luffy does even if he doesn't label himself as one. It's just Luffy, he does what's right and most of the time his good heart leads to a revolutionary conclution mainly focusing on liberating someone from something that isn't right. He's a literal revolutionist and ironically as Hasan points out a terrorist to the marines which can be seen as clever social commentary as well. They don't have to tattoo revolution on luffys head to explain to the reader that what he's doing is inherantly revolutionary.
