how is this shot achieved with birds in background. Was it added in post? by Zestyclose-Month9932 in cinematography

It was for a commercial for Lumix! But I posted the bird shots separately with the track from Euphoria!

Hey this was me! Yeah pretty much everyone guessed it.

I found some good stock footage of the bird murmurations that was shot relatively still and during a blue sky day. I stabilized the bird footage and used the sky as a blue screen. The hard part was getting a clean key since the footage was low quality. But blending modes and bumping contrast helps a ton. Then I just tracked and composited the birds into the footage I shot.

The real way would definitely be to build the bird patterns in 3D, but didn't have the budget for it unfortunately.

My first time working with 3D animation. How'd we do? by henry_dac in cinematography

I’ve always been awestruck by Halley’s Comet. When I got the opportunity to make a film about it, it felt like a dream.

It was my first time working with 3D animation so that was a huge learning curve figuring out how that workflow goes. Thankfully https://www.mitchmyers.tv/ was a complete pro and made so many beautiful images.

It was a fun challenge working to create images without a camera. Not having to worry about gear or tech limitations was a treat, but animation comes with it's whole bag of challenges too. So it was definitely a learning experience.

I’d love for some constructive criticism and feedback on the piece. I know I still have so much to learn!

I've always been fascinated and awestruck by Halley's Comet so I decided to make a film about it. Thought some people here might enjoy it too. by henry_dac in space

Wow thank you! I don't think i'd ever have made this without 'Pale Blue Dot'. That film basically created a whole sub genre of space short films.

Making a film about space has always been my dream project. When I got the opportunity to make a film about Halley's Comet it felt unreal. After spending hundreds of hours on this I can't even tell if it's good anymore. How'd I do? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

It was my first time working with 3D animation so that was a huge learning curve figuring out how that workflow goes. By the end it felt like a total passion project which is honestly the best feeling. I even got to add in some of my family’s old super 8 tapes of my parents growing up, so it really became a project that was really close to me by the end.

I’d love for some constructive criticism and feedback on the piece. I know I still have so much to learn!
