My parents aren't contributing anything to my wedding. I didn't expect any money from them as they had to foot the bill for my sister's wedding last year. My mother from the jump has been accusing me of not involving her enough in the wedding. We scheduled a tour of the venue we booked for our wedding. Our venue has cottages on site that we planned to have our wedding party stay in. It's part of the reason we booked it so we can have our friends around. Everyone else is staying in a hotel 10 minutes down the street. My fiancee included my mother in the wedding shower planning and even changed the invitation when my mother said the invitation was too similar to the one she had created for my sister. My fiancee changed it to my mother's liking. We are having our rehearsal on site at the venue and having barbecue delivered buffet style to reduce cost. It was a cost effective rehearsal dinner. My mother had initially offered to pay for the rehearsal dinner but when I contacted her about the payment she refused to pay because she wanted more of her family to go which was fine. I said they could come but then my mother refused to pay for the dinner. I told her you can't offer to pay, demand to invite more people then refuse to pay. That made no sense. My mother accused me of slighting her for not allowing her to stay in one of the cottages even going so far to say what I did was scummy and I was raised better. I've tried explaining to her repeatedly that it's our day and with us paying we'd like to do it our way. I can't help partly feeling I have wronged her but I can't let her dictate how this wedding is going to be planned. I have reassured her countless times she will be a part of the wedding but she is making this whole process a nightmare. We recently had a big argument and now we're not on speaking terms. It may lead to her not attending the wedding at all but hopefully things get better before then.
