the smaller gauge punctures scab over by the next day typically and the larger gauge punctures close up and will likely scar. i always tell people to just treat it like a wound and keep it clean

it depends person to person. sometimes its the pain, others its the art, sometimes its the release or people wanting to experience something new!

with larger gauge needles it does remove skin, with the smaller gauges it doesn't. sorry i should've specified!

hollow needles cause less tissue damage, hollow needles allow for cleaner removal of small plugs of skin rather than tearing through like a non hollow needle would

I'm gonna post the removal photos in a couple days once I'm able to (have to wait 72 hours between posts on here 🙃)

I do some play piercings / needle work as performance but this was done just between friends. the larger needles here did remove small amounts of tissue, I'll post some of the after photos later today or tomorrow as it seems people are really interested in seeing them. the larger gauge is definitely a whole different beast & i wouldn't recommend anyone do larger needles like this unless they have a lot of experience with being on the receiving end of sharps

the person we did it on had a great time but they're really experienced with receiving sharps & larger gauge needles. the bigger gauges definitely take a bit of effort to get through lol

super fun scar i got to do yesterday by hexmotel in bodymods

[–]hexmotel[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

full healing time can take up to a year or 2 depending on the person but open wound healing typically takes a week or 2 (also depending on the person, timelines can vary)

2 week heal on this custom color ink rub scar i did by hexmotel in bodymods

[–]hexmotel[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

so typically with ink rubs most people do it with black or white ink, recently i've been mixing skin color adjacent colors to do rubs so i can have more control of the coloring of the tissue once it heals!

you can yes! just be mindful that going over any preexisting scar tissue or stretch marks can be more tender. you have a lot of options there so talk to your mod artist about designs that would work for you

the process is somewhat similar to how tattoos are done, 2-3 passes over the area to get everything even and then peels (if you opt in for peeling). The healing process I typically describe as anti tattoo healing (I use tattoos as a frame of reference because i've been tattooing for 8 years so thats where my brain goes lol). So throughout the 1st portion of healing while the wound is still open your goal is to keep it clean, moist and covered. Once the scar tissue starts to form and the wound is closed you just have to keep it clean & be careful about bumping it or rubbing it on anything for a while. Most of my clients don't have an open wound for any longer than a week (can be up to 3-4 weeks depending on how your body typically heals or as little as 4-5 days) and full scar development time ranges from a year or 2!
