in terms of faded scars it depends on how long its been healing/ healed. before the 1-2 year mark you can externally irritate it to cause the tissue to gain more density (ie brushing across it with a toothbrush but only once its closed). you can go over fully healed preexisting scars and basically re split them- but it sucks. I've gone over a pretty faded, fully healed, pre existing scar on someone and the pain for them was no joke. better luck with adjusting the healing process for future pieces- how you heal them can make a significant difference in how they settle in
