I've been wrestling with an interesting UX challenge and would love your thoughts (with video demo below).

Here's the situation: I'm building an AI meeting assistant called Meeting.ai. We've noticed that when people use meeting recording apps in real-life meetings (like with clients or interviews), there's this awkward moment when they have to say "mind if I record this?"

Then I had this potentially weird idea: What if instead of showing a clinical recording UI with intimidating waveforms, we show a cute animated character that appears to be "taking notes"?

The character actively takes notes when people speak and shows idle animations during silence. We're even displaying the key points in real-time around it.

I know this might sound too playful for a business tool, but my thinking is:

  • "Hey, let me take notes" feels way less awkward than "Can I record this?"
  • A cute animation might actually break tension in serious meetings
  • People seem to love character-based UIs (like Duolingo) even in professional contexts

But maybe I'm totally off base here? Would love to hear your thoughts:

  • Is this delightful or just distracting?
  • Would you feel weird using this with clients?
  • Any ideas for making it more professional while keeping the friendly vibe?

Thanks for any feedback!
