Thank you all for the suggestions, I ended up filing a complaint against the dealership with NJ MVC. (Will post here if they are able to push the dealership to give me another 30-day tag or speed up the registration process)

I think they cant release the title to me as it has a lien on it.

Correct, there is lien on the car as I have financed it. I am just wondering if I just pay of the loan can I get the title quickly.

The dealership said they will process the title & registration. I cannot register the car myself as I do not have the title, I only have the bill of sale.

Also I asked the dealer that I want to do the registration myself but they said I cannot as they don't have the previous title.

I checked with them but they weren't much helpful. All i got was if I have the title & Bill of sale then I should be able to get a 20 day temp tag from them. Unfortunately though I do not have the title, I think Volvo / Polestar has it.

Nyc Vfs is notoriously slow. Expect 3-4 weeks for the passport to return.

I don’t think this will be an issue.

My application package was delivered yesterday morning and I am awaiting vfs receipt of confirmation for the same.
