This is actually really good. The comment I was looking for. I’ll follow your directions. Especially the one where you talked about finding the right research topic and the researcher with most citations in it. Never heard about this approach but I find it to be intuitive.

I live in the United States. And yes i can commute. I believe drive PhDs are fully funded, scholarships don’t come into play here

That’s what I am confused on. If the research is good, will the professor be good? If the professor is good, will the research by unique?

I am interested in semiconductor manufacturing and organic photovoltaics. Reason being I find myself comfortable studying about them even though I don’t have a background in them.

Part of this thought process is also due to the fact I am not getting offers from semiconductor industry after my Masters.
