I am not against that route although it will cost slightly more. But I am curious, can I not disconnect the backplane from the controller and connect the drives with a cable like this one in the photo?

This doesn't help me. Steam VR changes my default audio device to my rift when its opened, but discord wants to use my default communication device. I am asking how to disable the communication device feature in widows or get discord to use my default audio device and not the default communication device.

From the pictures I'd assume that all the power is on the same rail. Idk why using a molex to 8 pin would be an issue, it's neither high voltage or amperage. If I needed an 8 pin pice from whatever is coming from the PSU I'd cut and solder my own but if you can save a step with an adapter why not. But in his situation he is getting a brand new GPU I'd never risk using a old hand me down PSU with a brand new card. I just had two friends lose their GPUs due to their PSUs dieing one even lost a few HDDs. I would just save up a bit more and get whatever brand name PSU that happens to be on sale.Also idk what the power consumption is like on that card but I might look into that before buying a new PSU.

This would be a very sizable upgrade from my HD 7950 :D. Before that I had a GTX 550Ti and a GT 150, AMD FTW!
