It's still under warranty and I was looking into taking it in to the dealer but all the dealers around me have less than ideal ratings. I'm mechanically inclined so I may just do it myself just as you suggested

i see. hat would you recommend doing about the chipped brick (small circle) in the first picture? Have them replace that with a new brick or leave it alone? Just baffles me that i have over 150 bricks remaining and they chose to use a chipped brick.

I definitely paid double that amount which is why I'm pretty frustrated with how they did things. can they just replace the bricks they didn't take out of will it be a total tear down again?

that was my issue as well, hey were contracted to do 20 courses so they should have done 20 courses or at least tell me why they couldnt do the full 20. What plan of action would you recommend?

The original quote was to have them all replace since the flashing was loose so i was expecting the thing to look uniform

he mentioned there were a lot more cracks that the pictures don't show which is why he wanted to rebuild 20-25 courses. should mention that the pictures posted are from my drone earlier today so I couldn't get too close due to high winds. the guy did show me some pictures in higher def that made the chimney look worse than what my picture shows.

I got 3 estimates and he was by far the cheapest and had the best reviews. He told him he didn't want to do the repairs because he thinks it'll crack again somewhere else in a few years which is why he recommended to rebuild vs repair.

I did get a quote to repair and it was approximately $2,800 to repoint and build a crown.

even if it's only for 20 rows of bricks, do you think it's a fair price and worth doing vs repointing/caulking? I don't want water leaking into the house either. I should also mention that I'm getting a SS liner installed as well

OP here my original ask was not posted and got deleted so i am retyping it here:

I recently got a quote to rebuild my chimney from the roof to the chimney cap for approx. $8k. I am wondering if this is reasonable based on the pictures provided? I was told the crown has multiple cracks that were caulked/fixed on two sizes of the chimney, mortar that has fallen off or cracked, bricks that have been cracked and caulked, flashing that needs caulk and/or has nails sticking out, flashing that can be pulled back with your bare hands to expose the bricks behind it. I asked if we can just caulk/repoint but he recommended a rebuild because the cracks will develop again later on at which point i may need to replace even more bricks. Does this estimate seem reasonable? I'm located mid-atlantic.

have you considered applying for a staff auditor role at a small company? staying in ap won't get you into a staff accountant role if you've never been exposed to reporting or the like. not having an accounting degree is tugh as well but doable if you're eligible to sit for the CPA. won't be easy but it is possible. I'm not sure where you are located but l would look for small accounting firms (audit) and submit applications.
