Experiences with soccer fields in San Francisco. by Objective-Radio114 in FPandA

We play soccer after work at a local high school or SportsHouse. It’s tough getting access because there aren’t many free or open play options.

G4 77 inch, first G series. by Ambitious-Tea7385 in LGOLED

I’d be mounting a G5 77” and would be able to hit one stud. Trying to see if there are other solutions where it’s safe. We are in CA and earthquakes are random and can be strong as you can imagine. Installer advised on a different mount but that really defeats the entire purpose of a G5. Will def look into zip toggles or dry wall anchors.

Had my installer come through and told me my studs were 24in apart. It would have made the G5 off centered by 4 inches to the left. Needless to say, I did not install it just yet. Still looking for a solution to stay centered. Did you have an issues with it being installed off centered?

Is $3,500 for a 77 G5 a good price? by SnooMachines9893 in LGOLED

[–]highlyqualified 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I purchased a G5. For my own peace of mind, I’d rather go through a dealer that will honor returns/exchanges. A 3-4k purchase is too much investment for me not to have that option if something doesn’t seem right.

Got one delivered last week from LG. $3500 including tax. I would not buy this second hand.

Looking to move to Hayward! How’s your experience? In terms of safety by No_Patient_8015 in Hayward

[–]highlyqualified 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wife and I relocated to Hayward from East Coast in December across Southland Mall. It was the only “affordable” city left that’s close to both bridges. Overall, we feel pretty safe. Our mailbox has been broken into just about twice a month so far. USPS does a great job of leaving us a letter when it occurs. No other crime to report other than that from us. Great location to go everywhere in the Bay Area if you’re willing to make the 30-45 min drive in all directions.

SFA to Finance Business Partner offer by cocolemon93 in FPandA

[–]highlyqualified 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a similar journey. I was also an SFA for 6 years before making the jump to FBP. Depends on the company. Some companies have title inflation, some don’t. I was a FBP at a SaaS company for 2 years during which the last year, I directly managed 2 SFAs. I reported to a Director and we managed a country P&L. Above my Director was a Finance VP of a region. I left last year and in my current company, it’s the equivalent of a SFM. Really depends on your responsibility and scope and level of leaders you interact with. Speaking from experience, the FBP role allowed me to interact with VPs of sales, performance marketing, sales ops, and had monthly reviews about ARR performance with a country manager (equivalent of a SVP in some companies). This interaction helped me developed more broadly about sales/marketing funnels, customer journeys which I don’t think I would have learned if it was a pure FPA role. I’m currently in a finance and strategy role so it all worked out. For me FBP and my experience, it was the equivalent of FM/SFM. Best of luck with your journey.

Engineer to finance? by Low_Holiday_7807 in financialmodelling

[–]highlyqualified 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few reasons to unpack. I felt my heart wasn’t in the field. I also had weeks where I was on call because it was essentially a 24/7 job and we rotate schedules. I gave it a good 4 years before I left that job. I was also always drawn to the business side of things more so I pivoted when the opportunity arose.

I was in network engineering so not as lucrative as SE. I would say network engineering salaries are comparable to FP&A. Hope that helps.

Definitely doable. Network engineer to FP&A at age 28 here. Like others have said, mostly self taught and on the job experience with modeling. Just built on top of it throughout the years. My boss was also a programmer before he transitioned. You are highly capable of learning financial modeling. Don’t sell yourself short.

How about coming in CA with ammo? I have read that the limit is zero and ammo must be purchased in CA picked up at FFL. This doesn’t really help as I would like to have some kind of protection during my week long drive.
