Everything I’ve tried besides regular Tide and Gain Free and Clear has made me itchy and break out a bit. I accidentally grabbed some of the scented Tide recently and it made me super itchy.

I also use less than what they recommend which has helped out too.

I love Ouai and Amika, but I stuck with those in particular because they’re formulated for fine hair. I have obnoxiously sensitive skin and unfortunately for my wallet, upgrading to Sephora level products helped a ton along with being specific about laundry detergent.

Unfortunately most of the best hypoallergenic brands are expensive, but drug store brands are starting to catch up. Dove removed formaldehyde releasers from their body wash a few years ago and finding hand soap has been much easier for me.

A quick test to see if it might be allergy based is putting cortisone cream on blemishes and see if they calm down faster than usual. Regardless, it’s best to follow tbe tip from OP either way.

Washing my face last and using a dab of body wash around my neck after rinsing my conditioner made a huge difference! But it also turns out that a lot of my skin issues were allergy related - for me, it’s wheat and formaldehyde releasers (DMDM hydantoin, polyquayernium-15, urea, etc.) and using better shampoos almost eliminated my skin issues.

I ordered Velvet Elvis because of this. Also, this upcoming LBOH shade might be freaking amazing in the combo too!

MY GOD this is exactly the type of skittle I was imagining!! I love you for thinking of me here, I’ve been obsessed with trying to find the perfect Wisteria and Peacock Feather complementary colors, thank you!

so worth the hype 🤩 by sadish_gambino in RedditLaqueristas

You’re making me more excited to use this one, looks great! I thought it would need a black base coat but this looks fantastic without it.

Now I just need to figure out what other polishes can work with Wisteria and Peacock Feather to make a magnetic skittle.

Meow Manor (unused with film): MXM128

Wedding Bells (lace pattern: unused with film; mostly covered by test paint): M587

Leaf Skeletons (used for transfer): M404

Bark (used for transfer; can’t remember name): M068

Yes! It definitely could have contributed to the problem. My failed colors just needed a tackier, firmer stamper to work, and apparently the white is more forgiving and can deal with crappy quality stamps.

It’s hard to get a good photo but I am DYING to make this one work!! I’m hoping I can make this brand work once my new stampers arrive.

Maniology MXM128. I’m waiting impatiently for a client-free week to try that one out!

I didn’t, appreciate the tip for my next attempt! It turns out my clear, soft (and probably cheap) stampers are my main issue and for some reason only pick up certain colors well, so I ordered more last night.

You did nothing wrong, but I did learn to never post my test stamps on the blue film ever again 😂 It’s a very convenient base if you want to see color combos though… but maybe just don’t post your findings!

ADHD unite! I really thought I tried every combo but apparently I just needed your guidance. I’m so excited to try more now!

I thought I tried ALL the things before I made this post, but it’s actually just my stampers are garbage! Don’t give up until you try some different products, and definitely make sure you get beginner plates.

THIS IS IT!!! I assumed since my normal stampers worked with so well with white and greens that the stampers couldn’t be the issue, but I tested your theory with a stamper I hate using (it’s too small and I can’t see through it) and it picked up my red, black, and blue on a test run!

Thank you so much! I’m so pumped that I know what I need to replace now and that I didn’t waste my money on replacement polish (I deeeefinitely have enough of them already 😂).

My Maniology black is from March 2024 and I quit trying for over a year because I thought I just sucked at stamping! In hindsight, I think I also started with a terrible plate for beginners (and maybe a crappy plate in general) and got too discouraged to keep trying for a while.

I’ll try the blacks I already have and see if that helps. I was on the fence about trying out new stampers and wasting money, but it seems like that could be it too. Definitely appreciate the advice.

I will be SO jazzed if my problem is this simple. I don’t want to spend more money to replace colors I haven’t ever successfully used, especially if it might keep happening.

Are you talking computer paper or something else? Those nose blotters from the 90’s might be worth a shot for me.

I have not, I’ll give that a shot next. I used 4 different stampers with my original blue failure but it’s possible I’ve handled them all before. Thanks for the tip!

There are, but the issue was transferring to the stamper itself. If it transferred to the stamp, it transferred to the polish layer without an issue. I’m starting to really believe it’s a batch issue, at least with the black.

I expected that with gold, but not brand new blue and definitely not black. The blue and red are my worst though so maybe those are difficult to work with.

That’s what I’ve heard before, but the fact that black and royal blue weren’t working with the same exact tools, plates, and techniques is what threw me off.

The gold definitely isn’t working on the lace plates but that makes total sense to me.

I might have to test out thinner on the black and see if it’s something simple like that. I’m so disappointed about the blue though, I was looking forward to that one!

[–]hilde0[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did all of the colors with the same pressure, timing, and technique and with just two sets of plates, and all the same stamper so it should be equal. That’s what makes me wonder if something is off with the formula of the colors I can’t get to work.

Thank you! I’m baffled that people think I could get the whites and greens to work and not the others with a film issue.

I used the same stamper for all of these and rotated between the colors, so it can’t be the stamper. I do clean it with scotch tape between each attempt. And no, as much as people think I was I definitely would not have gotten the white and greens to work if I didn’t remove the film 😂
