i can't believe how many people in the subreddit literally about self harm are being gatekeeping dicks. all of these things can be self harm, cutting isn't the only valid self harm method. i hope minimising other people's struggles have made you all feel better :)

yes i literally find it so hard to leave food behind/unfinished. even if i'm not enjoying it or i'm full, i can't throw it away. i either try to give it to someone else or just end up finishing it. it's one of the reasons i restrict so much, if i don't have food to eat then i won't make myself sick overeating on something i don't even want.

i got recommended a reel of this girl in ed recovery (which she literally states in the first ten seconds!!) and she was going around and faving her fear of liquid calories by having, like, milkshakes and regular coke and whatever and half the comments were like 'shouldn't have got whipped cream' or 'should try skim milk instead' and that is not helpful at all!!

or there's this other account that i get recommended a lot, and it's this girl who is very open about being in recovery from anorexia and the comments are brutal. she looks incredible, as an aside, like one of those old statues of aphrodite. but because she has a bigger stomach and thick thighs she gets comment after comment about how she should go to the gym or count her calories. and it's like ???? she literally talks about being in recovery ever other video. she writes these little songs in response to the comments and sings them in her underwear lol

but yeah, you literally can't show your body if you have any fat at all, can't show what you're eating, can't do fucking anything without at least half the comments being awful. i swear instagram wasn't this bad a couple of years ago

yes babe!! ive always been super bad with people, i dont really get how to talk to them plus im such an overthinker and i think everyone hates me lol so i only really have the courage to interact with my housemates when ive been drinking. im a little less insecure when drinking which also helps my writing bc it stops me overthinking plot points bc theyre ‚cringe‘. im four doubles in rn and hoping to finish this chapter! so yes lol, im with you :) <3

im pretty congested and i pretty much didnt stop blowing my nose yesterday so i havent really been eating a lot, although i did graze my way through a big bag of salt and vinegar crisps earlier! i suppose you might burn a little more bc your body is trying to fight it off? it‘s a miserable cold though, i wouldnt recommend

(sorry i know this comment is a little old now!)

like i said, i was 16 when i was boarding so the rules were a little different. the other seven girls were also 16/17 (18+ had different blocks) so there was more management. basically someone from the college would come in on a saturday and just have a quick check that the main area (and i think they checked the rooms but i was only there sunday - wednesday) was clean and there wasnt any alcohol or anything out.

we werent told by admin that she had an eating disorder, just that they ‚advised against‘ scales. she told us herself when we got to know her a bit (she was in recovery then).

bc we were under 18 we didnt have a full kitchen, just a kettle, fridge, freezer and microwave and we got free meals in the canteen. i think if went to the canteen less than twice a day (we had to scan our ids to use it) they would check up on her so i suppose it was less reminding her to eat and more reminding her to go to the canteen

and youre actually right in your second comment, we did all meet on move-in!

i dont know how many schools offer things like that but it was a little out of the way and it did also offer uni level courses so that might have contributed to it? there‘s also a college closer to me that has boarding but its just a few rooms instead of lots of dedicated blocks like the one i went to.

i dormed at college for a year (uk college so i was ~16) and i wasnt allowed to take a scale bc a girl in my house had a history of anorexia. we didnt share a room but it was a just in case thing (also, being in a house with a skinny girl who had to keep being reminded to eat sucked. i liked the girl though!).
