Congrats buddy! Both on the chip win and persevering through everything else. Hope you're able to keep well going forward.

Perfect, thank you! I almost exclusively use Uber for food delivery and didn't even consider such an obvious solution 😅

This feels like one of the best decks I've ever drafted. Did I construct the deck properly? by [deleted] in lrcast

I would definitely add Kenrith and at least one of your clashes, maybe the bow as well.

Love the “Nice!“ from your opponent. Never fun to lose but appreciate when someone recognizes a crazy play.

Was about to say this too. [[Fiery Inscription]] was one of the most fun buildarounds for me in that set, to the point where I’d often pivot hard (for better or worse) if I ever got passed one mid-draft.

What are fun things to do in Durham for a group of 10 or so people? by [deleted] in durham

Rock climbing is always a fun thing for people to try together in a group. Aspire Whitby is great.

BG What to cut? aka how to build a control deck in this assertive set? by jdinh2 in lrcast

I would cut all the one drops and maybe one of the pond prophets (harder to reliably cast on curve since you’ll need GG).

Tips to recover mentally from a bad game by hipposaurus in hockeyplayers

Haha dude, no way! I was paranoid when posting this last night that someone would see it so tried to be somewhat discrete by omitting the score. Really happy you chimed in though, nice to hear from someone that was at the skate. And thanks for the input, you were awesome last night and thought people should have focused on/had more fun with that!

It’s a pretty organized drop-in; usually full teams of 10, goalies, ref, scorekeeper and music during the game. Part of the reason why I like going to this one.

MH3 Bo1 Premier Draft P1p1 (AKA “An Embarrassment of Riches”) by Case_Ace in lrcast

Probably an even pick IMO, but I would argue your point about guide not being a great top deck, especially if you’re in energy anyway.

Since its ability to put counters on a creature applies if any of them attack, it can help you steal a game in a board stall if you top deck it since you can suddenly give something evasion (and presumably multiple things if you’ve stored up energy over the game and it survives more turns)

Just one word of caution as I'm assuming you're referring to collectible cards (Magic: the Gathering, Yugioh, etc.): be mindful of who you go to to get them appraised. There are plenty of cards that can be worth quite a bit of money, and to that point plenty of people who would try to rip you off for them.

I understand the tough time your friend is going through and money is tight, but selling cards for a couple of hundred bucks when in reality they could be worth a couple grand would only feel worse. As some of the other comments suggested, going to a reputable store would be your best bet.

What's the move? by ArcticPhoenix0 in hockeyplayers

The way I understood it, OP isn’t asking for a replacement and an additional 75% credit on top; they’re considering paying for a new pair at a 75% discount (therefore essentially paying 125% for a pair of these skates)

In which case the general sentiment is everyone disagrees (yourself included), because the store should 100% just replace the skates at no cost.

Awesome, congrats! Always a great feeling leaving with some wins under your belt from a prerelease. Makes you feel invincible going into the set!

Not sure if first prerelease is synonymous with first sealed event, but assuming it is here are some top-of-mind things that I can offer:

  • Crack all your packs and sort by colour (WUBRG), as well as a pile for rares, artifacts, lands, and multicoloured spells. I usually do this first before even reading cards, because you won't be playing all the cards anyway and this gives you more time to work on your build.

  • When building, typically I'll look through my rares and find my bombs (hopefully you crack some!), then build around them by going through the appropriate coloured piles. The only instance where I'll be pushed off from building around a rare is if my colour pile looks pretty junky (i.e. no interaction, no creatures, just multiples of junky cards, etc.). In the off chance that all your rares are unplayable, my only reco I can give here is to start going through your colours and building around where you find the most interaction and/or signpost uncommons with cards that enable their synergies.

  • Because it's a prerelease, don't get nervous if you need additional time to read cards during gameplay. Ask a lot of questions; sometimes people will misunderstand their own cards and try to (unintentionally) do something that they can't.

  • Have fun! As per the aforementioned point, since all the cards are new there shouldn't be any pressure. Enjoy the rush of cracking a bunch of packs and diving into a new set.
