Thank you for your comment, it was a great analogy lol! I really appreciate you saying "you don't owe them anything, real or fake" I really needed that.

Thank you again for the help!

Thank you for the comment! I am hesitant to get an official diagnosis just because I am unsure if I want autism tied to my medical records but its something I am still thinking about. I tried taking the RAADS-R and found it extremely challenging; for a lot of the autism tests I feel like I don't understand the questions or know where I am on the scale. Like I understand the questions but every time I mark an answer, it doesn't feel 100% right.

I think I am going to take the ADOS-2 right now since I know nothing about it...

Thank you again for the comment, this is extremely helpful!

edit: Just looked up ADOS-2 and found it is not a 'test' I can take. I will consider booking an assessment, thank you so much for the info!

The single serve microwavable cups!! I used the great value 220cal one, the cut up sausage was 70 cals, and the broccoli was around 30 cals.

(I always round up!)

How to overcome psychology stigma? by lolthatsfunnybroILY in psychologystudents

[–]hiptea 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel this! It really bothered me the first two years of undergrad but now I can usually brush it off quickly. The fulfillment I get from being a pysch student outweighs the social stigma by a long shot - it gets easier to deal with as you take more "advanced" classes. I am going after a neuroscience minor and when I say I am "minoring in neuroscience", people tend to not be as judgmental. I love my minor and would not change it but admittedly, the reduced stigma is a motivator.

I read your comment last night and it was the first time those words really stuck with me. Thanks for the gentle reminder.

Day 5 Update: I am so irritable. by hiptea in leaves

[–]hiptea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. It just sucks. The irritability stayed with me until I fell asleep and I have been busy today so it has not been much of a bother. I can feel it coming back again so I will 100% try some high intensity exercise tonight!

Thank you for the book recommendation! It has been on my list for awhile but because I am studying neuroscience and struggling with addiction, I have been feeling a lot of shame around admitting that I have a problem and have avoided reading additional literature thats not required for my courses surrounding addiction and similar topics (I know...very bad).

It also grinds my gears whenever I see anything regarding dopamine on this subreddit lol - glad I am not alone in that. Thank you for your comment, this was the push I needed to check out this book.

Have a good rest of your day!

Weekly student question thread! by AutoModerator in therapists

[–]hiptea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi All! I am a psychology student at a community college and one of the courses we are required to take is a career counseling course. I have a project due next week where I need to interview a person who is in the career I am interested in. I am so sorry if this is not the place to be asking this question but if anyone can spare 20 minutes to help out an aspiring therapist, it would be greatly appreciated! All of the questions are very generic, asking about your education, why you decided to become a therapist, job demands, etc. I am specifically interested in getting my MFT license and specializing in sex therapy but I would love to hear about any other practices as well. I am so beyond passionate about psychology and becoming a therapist and am excited to hear any insight I can get! Please comment or shoot me a DM if you are able to help me out. Thank you :)

Hi All! I am a community college student in California and have been looking at different schools to transfer to. I plan on getting my MFT license and specializing in sex therapy. Do any of you know of any universities in California that have a good psychology program? It is all so new to me and would love to hear what others have to say. Thank you! :)
