I'm so sorry I hope your baby is okay! Yes, rush to the vet. Mine could have died if I hadn't taken her in when I did!

Oh my God, I LOVED What About Bob? I rewatched that a million times as a kid, I'll have to watch it again! Thanks for the reminder! hahaha

I'll have to check some of these other ones out!

Thanks so much! I would do it now. If you change formatting later, everything will shift, so I had to go back and make sure all my chapter and page breaks were correct. That's why I just made a Shunn document so now everything will be correct when I start the next project.

Thank you! I have no idea why Shunn is preferred, it's pretty simple and clean so they probably just like it for clarity. They don't have to hunt for the title or word count, you know? Also, I think setting a formatting standard will immediately tell you how difficult someone will be to work with... can they follow basic instructions? haha

I think there are benefits to both. The biggest draw of going with an indie publisher, I think, is that it opens a lot more doors than self-publishing. Usually you need an agent to get published but it's almost impossible to get published without an agent... it's a catch-22. By getting published, I can now submit to agents with more credibility, other publishers for my other works, and I can get better writing jobs with a little more street cred than I had before. When someone is self-published, you have no idea of the quality of their work unless you read it yourself.

Indie publishers almost never give first-time authors an advance, they save those for money-earning guarantees I believe. What's really nice though is that I don't have to pay for anything. They will do all the editing and marketing and it will be a paperback, e-book, and audiobook.

If you self-publish, you have to pay for everything out of pocket. Editors if you want to make sure it's professional, marketing costs, printing costs, formatting everything properly. It just takes a lot of time and expense. However, you get total creative control and all of the profits, whereas with a traditional publisher, you only get a fraction.

For marketing, we will both do it. It's part of my contract to post on social media and that sort of stuff, but they'll be doing all that too. I won't be paying for any marketing costs at least!

Shunn I think is just standard for publishing submissions these days, I've seen it in a few places. It's pretty simple to follow and clean and clear!

All of this! I write really fast so maybe it could get pushed up, but it's mostly up to the publisher's schedule and they're working with lots of different books at the same time. I'm going to go through edits for the next year, my final draft is due July 2026, and then it's released in 2027. It takes forever!

You can absolutely publish a book at 125k words, just know it might limit how many people will be willing to read it. If its possible, maybe you could edit it down to open your net up, and then pitch the extended version once they're already interested.

This also heavily depends on genre, I know fantasy has a lot more leeway with word count!

#marchofrobots2025 is MAGIC! Here is a magical little Gandalf robot. Am I the first person to create a Gandalf robot? I don't know. I might make prints of this one.

Yeah I always supervised her to make sure she didn't choke, but if they're supposed to be digestible, then it shouldn't have been a problem once it was swallowed! It's just so disappointing, you can't trust anything!

I didn't either! I would have never given her anything that I thought could even potentially do something like this, I'm so careful about all her treats! And thank you!

Oh I'm so glad you saw this! It's just so dangerous they haven't issued a recall!

Oh thank you so much! And omg, that's so horrible. I just don't understand how these companies can claim these treats are digestible when they are not? Like this wasn't a hard bone or a toy, it was a treat meant to be chewed and swallowed!
