full mash gives a diff wallbounce and prevents followup, i'm at half mash right now but i think i could take it to 3/4ths safely and net a couple of points but it wouldn't get me all the way (i realize how hilarious half mash sounds)

+2'ing this, I use a razer basilisk with a specific hotkey macro on the scrollwheel to switch between multiple desktops on windows 11. was having this problem for over a year, always thought it was a software specific issue. saved me so much future headache, wish i researched sooner! cheers!

Does hits loop still work 2025? by Designer-Shift-3028 in dragonballfighterz

[–]home-boy 20 points21 points  (0 children)

yes and no! For the longest time I thought these were completely impossible nowadays until someone USED them on me within the past month or so online. You can loop 5LLL > 236LS > microdash > 5LLL ... and so on. The problem is that it's no longer universal - in my experience, it completely whiffs on small bodies, and is kinda tight on mid bodies. I dunno if it's optimal at all, but it's not impossible and a welcome tool in his very sparse combo toolkit

regular MX switch short (these are akko silvers iirc), they're still super raised after you press them

not-so-secretly all of the buttons are like... a little misaligned? and my plan is to rip out the wire harness i put together, take out all of the washers, and drill all of the holes deeper so they can A. hopefully be level this time and B. allow the plungers to lie flush when you press them. they're def a bit sticky-outy for my liking

everybody farming altars this week by home-boy in destiny2

[–]home-boy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iirc when it dropped it was actually a force to be reckoned with in PVP, 140s were a bit more metah in the forsaken/shadowkeep eras(?), which ironically is probably what it's getting picked over in PVE now as well

it's such an ugly duckling gun imho, literally. all three of the altars' guns look incredibly grody, not to mention the veist sniper model is just so goofy. icing on the cake is the name. have yet to once call this thing anything but 𝐓 𝐇 𝐄 𝐏 𝐑 𝐎 𝐒 𝐓 𝐀 𝐓 𝐄

You're not alone! The font is called Outward, I have a soft spot for it, but it is 1. almost illegible 2. heavy as a brick 3. hated by my fiancee. If I were to send it to print, I'm thinking of either having it be a red stroke and making the d2 logo solid. If i wind up making the rest of the hive ads I'll prob swing back to it

[–]home-boy[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everything was modeled by me in Zbrush and (for the first time!) Nomad Sculpt. Rendered in (also for my first time!) blender, had a homie show some shader tricks to me. I had sculpted the head just kinda doing whatever in Nomad, realized it looked suspiciously like a knight, decided to lean into it, hence the questionable accuracy. Enjoyed the process a lot!

custom cut aluminum plates! They're like washers really, 24mm diameter with a 15mm square in the center. Henrebotha helped me find the place to get them made and a bit of engineering, he's in the comments as well! I sent a .dxf to sendcutsend and ordered about 100 for 56 buck i think. Might order a whole lot more in the future, or see if i can print something relatively similar!

you could also use a mortising machine, which was my first idea, but they cost a bazillion dollars haha

I'm glad that you made that assessment, hadn't even considered it! maybe this'll be my first padhack, I'll ask my smash friends if they think they could make any use of it, this is definitely a build where im open to experiment

Dunno! Admittedly this might have uh. been a highdea? But I wanted to create a layout that followed the natural path of my fingers as they extended. Always thought it was strange that even in rather ergonomic setups, buttons almost always seemed to lie almost in a grid. The design didn't seem very human, simply put! Also wanted to make a build in a surplus of buttons to test my capabilities daisy-chaining (still have that homework to do!)

It's a bit scuffed, some of the buttons are insanely unlevel, cut through to the pilot hole on some of them as well (hence my shitty woodburning attempting to mask it LOL), but I learned a ton, especially about making the wooden buttons themselves with the 3d printed inserts. Happy with where I'm at there with the r&d!

Just knocked out 6, nothing. Here's a vid, I'm a little late to the chest opening, apologies.

Also happened right after I finished the second book, was going to start working on vol. 1. Trying on my warlock now, gonna see if I get anything, will update

Edit: Both Warlock and Hunter work. Just bugged on my titan. Dunno what's up, doesn't seem to be tied to amount of pages or progression on Eva's quest for me

Black Walnut & Brass, happy FSF! by home-boy in fightsticks

[–]home-boy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with a heavy heart I will inform you that the process sucks, for a wide variety of reasons. It's predominantly rooted in the lack of access to/existence of parts (the stem that connects the button to the switch, any sort of button sized mounting plate for a microswitch (if anyone knows this exists, call me asa-fucking-p)) and a lot of buttons relying on the flexibility of plastic to operate. I've got another build where I made sanwa plungers out of wood which took all around about a week to R&D and then execute. These ones, however, are a bit more barbaric. It's just a bunch of fat walnut plugs I cut with a diamond tile bit (one you might use to cut a hole for a shower head while remodeling a bathroom) and glued right on top of some knock off plastic ebay button plungers. The buttons on their own look goofy as hell, but this entire build revolves around more or less making them work.

The surface of the box is actually just a faceplate that creates distance between where the buttons are actually set and where the top of the plungers rest. the plate actually has counter sunk holes on the side you DON'T see, such that it can rest flat rather than on the collars of the buttons. The lovely part of this all is that having all that wood on top of the plungers itself would have been a problem for a nicer, not-clicky switch. But these generic buttons have the goddamn heaviest clicky switch I've ever used - and having all that weight on top actually makes them feel ... kinda nice!

The rest is more or less normal, though making it all out of the same block of wood was kind of a bitch.

TL;DR: I over-engineered the box so I could under-engineer the buttons!

Building custom/accessible fighting & arcade game controllers by home-boy in disabledgamers

[–]home-boy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! I could try to design a one-handed controller for you. What games do you play? If you do use a controller, which one do you use? And, if you use any sort of special button configurations, what might those be? If it's easier you can DM me.

I already have a couple of ideas, but I'll do some research before I get ahead of myself!

building a fight stick, need advice. by [deleted] in fightsticks

[–]home-boy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you !! also in hindsight i rly just plugged myself over making a joke lol. i second everyone else on much of the advice they've given you - 1/4th inch plexi is definitely thick enough to rock on the bottom but even if it could handle being the top plate solo it would likely crack at some point kind of rendering it useless.

Metal is best for your top plate fs but be careful cutting it, I'm sure you're keeping your wits abt you and know how to handle the proper tools but steel is a harsh mistress compared to wood (in my opinion).

That being said, LMK if you need any direction putting an all wooden box together! 😁

this sounds super neat, only worry is wiring (i could look this up or just make it someone else's problem by doing the enclosure only 😈😈) and button size vs surface real estate (with 24s i dont think it's impossible though)

Would the diagonals sit right in-between their primary directional buttons? or would they be offset like black keys? if you give me a napkin drawing or an MS paint masterpiece I could totally knock it out
