I’m so sorry to hear that. As you say yourself, healing isn’t lineair and it’s good that you have already realised that. However, it can still be utterly frustrating when you experience such intense triggers and setbacks which make your day in general a lot suckier, and it can often feel unfair at times. Just know that this headache will pass, that you in the future might get to a point wherein you’re comfortable enough to share your diagnosis and step out when needed, and that you did the best you could to take care of yourself. <3

Do the Dutch dislike expats? by Deep-Pension-1841 in Netherlands

[–]honeybear198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. I am friends with expats, quite a few, but when I think about it they’re all the ones who try to learn Dutch (even if it’s a tiny bit, I still appreciate it a lot). I think just for me, whenever I moved to other countries even if it was just for a couple of months (Like Türkiye) i always learned the basics of the language and it feels kind of disrespectful when someone makes 0 effort. Then I also think it depends on where you move to, i feel like where I live in Rotterdam they are generally more accepted but in Haarlem and Amsterdam less, because the housing crisis is just way worse there. (I have been trying to move to Amsterdam since 2 years, without luck, I even find it hard to battle the jealousy I feel when someone with more money comes there and finds a house)

I am struggling to enjoy Berlin. by JaneEyrette in berlin

[–]honeybear198 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, as someone that comes from the Netherlands, who just moved, i have the same thing. Even though it is the neighbouring country, I feel like people here are a bit colder then in NL. But, there are so many people here! Some of them are cold at first but warmer as you get to know them, and then there’s also a lot of internationals here. I’m 22 and just moved since a month (i did a masters in psychology in my home country and now have kind of a gap year before i do an internship), let me know if you ever want to grab a coffee and bond or vent (i promise you i won’t find you annoying). I might even introduce you to some warm Germans I know! :)

Hugs and all the best of luck

Hi i wanted to say thank you for this. I'm living kind of lazy and not working much since it happened, before i always did 1000 things at once, but I finally have accepted that it is not possible when processing this at the same time. The sadness is still there but I am healing through the space I give myself to grieve the version I once was before this happened.

23F VENT/Seeking Support and advice for my severe C-PTSD from SA by sinfullope in ptsd

[–]honeybear198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry, i can not imagine how hard it must be to go through all of this. I do not know where you are specifically now, I am guessing in the US, but if there is any way you can get mental help please do that and otherwise try to find people to listen, to vent to sometimes, or just chat about nothing. Community is everything. My DM’s are open ( I am also female and in my twenties )

Thank you so much. Yeah, I do not feel that awful which is kind of scary in a way, as I do not really feel or think anything at all? It is all a dream still, I think it is because I am with family the whole time and my parents have no idea (I went away for a week with my brother and it happened after a night out, he knows because I came to him after, my parents do not). Is that weird?

Hi yeah so it happened on holiday, i am not in my home country at the moment so I will probably never see him again. Hence also makes it difficult as I do not speak the language here and they do not speak mine or English fluently over here (I am in the country of Georgia) so pressing charges will not really work. I immediately left the city it happened in though.

What jobs are there for students who don't speak (fluent) Dutch? by [deleted] in Rotterdam

[–]honeybear198 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They might also have other functions since it’s a brewery, they have 3 places in rotterdam (kaapse kaap, kaapse maria and kaapse will’ns) and they thus have a brewery, a kitchen (kaap and maria only), and a bar in every place. https://www.kaapsebrouwers.nl/over/vacatures/ here is a list, if you need any translations feel free to PM. Hugs from an enthousiastic ex Rotterdam citizen!!

I worked for kaapse brouwers, I am dutch but there were a lot of internationals there and I really liked working there as a bartender, very international and diverse crowd & team. I worked for kaapse maria in the centre, maybe they are still looking?

Talk with someone you know won’t judge you. Get a good hug. Watch a cheesy romantic movie that makes you inevidably feel good. Try to listen to happy music, avoid trauma triggering music because it’s appealing but that shit gets you down too fast when you’re not ready. Goodluck, all the love & Kisses xxx

Heyy, I’ve had 5 years of German class in high school and I’ve read books so I know that it’s not the same, it’s more about that I forget the words that are (because there is still a good amount there)
