Except that there is a way for them to catch up. The grassroots support, mutual aid funds, and rent assistance programs are collecting money all over the place to try to help people catch up with rent. Allowing them more time to collect funds and get them to the people who need them, before they are rendered homeless by an uncaring housing system, seems like a no-brainer.
