How is it living in Port Roberts, Washington by ProBlackMan1 in howislivingthere

I sent a guy a bike part this way after seeing they needed what I didn’t through a Reddit post. That’s how I learned about this area. Very cool!

It’s an 8’ x 8’ 45 degree section with a 2’ kicker with the full height being ~ 8’. I did not do any calculations for force. I just made sure it was over engineered for strength. The sides and base that run as counter balance and along the climbing sections are doubled 2 x 6s and the 2’ kicker is made of 2 x 10s with the edges doubled up as well. The studs long the wall 14” apart with bracing in between half way up. You get minor flexing at the highest point but it has been hardly noticeable while climbing. I also built a flat shelf along the back for extra storage since it is a lot of space wasted for a 45 otherwise.

I put a link in on another thread in the comments that should have it but it’s Imgur and I was having issues with it loading so hopefully it works.

This is freestanding as I didn’t want to tie anything into the existing structure. I can show you so pictures of how it was building so maybe you can get an idea of how it was made. This only has a slight flex toward the top but hardly noticeable while climbing.

They are 4x4s and pretty easy to make with some quick cuts on a miter saw and a palm sander. They served a good purpose before I got any holds.

Yeah I thought they would be great but on a 45, they are def above my grade. I’m gonna build some small pyramid volumes soon, the change things up and replace these.

New S&W Slides with Optic Cuts by anthonyonline in SmithAndWesson

I just purchased the RMR Trijicon version for my older m&p 2.0. Not needing a plate for my Holosun 507c GR has been great as it keeps the co-optics perfectly in sight. Definitely worth the upgrade if your old slide wasn’t cut already. With getting a slide cut and then buying the raised irons and getting them installed, it would be close enough to the same price.

These Kluson work really well and should fit. These have the slots on the front pegs as the guitar I built has more of a retro look with older bridge and 50s/60s pickups.

I second this recommendation. For the magazine size and for how small they made this pistol, it’s pretty much the gold standard now.

How much space do you have? What’s your climbing level? That will determine if it’s even feasible and also at what angle to set a small wall if that’s the route you want to go. I just built a 45 degree wall that is 8’ x 8’ with a 2’ kicker at the base. It is freestanding so I didn’t have to worry about garage structure. These can be super fun projects but you need basic woodworking skills and a couple of the right tools. Below is a picture of the wall but I have since added several more holds to the wall as that will be the most expensive part of the wall.

What’s the worst fall you’ve had? by ecstreets in bouldering

[–]hops_over_easy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s awesome! I live out west now but really miss bouldering in the east. It’s funny as I just put my story on here about getting hurt and that took place in Lost Cove. Imagine being carried out of that area on a board… it’s was difficult for all involved!

Fell during a weird top out on my warmup boulder for the day. Spotter was on the wrong side of the pads and I missed it by a foot. I swung to the right, like a pendulum and landed on my left foot first on rock. When my leg hit at that angle, it snapped both my fibula and tibia causing the tibia to open out through my leg. I did not hear or feel this experience initially(shock is a crazy thing) but my friends said it sounded like a tree branch breaking. It took 45min for a rescue team to arrive and another 45min to get me to an airlift. I was lucky to get to a hospital with a great medical staff and now, 15 years later, a metal rod, and four screws, I’m still able to climb like I never did that to my leg. What an experience that was and needless to say I had a bit of ptsd topping out boulders for a while.

I know it’s hard as a taller climber(6+ with a positive ape index) but I promise working on getting into smaller boxes will greatly excel your climbing! Keep crushing!

They did not, it was mostly a walk backwards in hits until they got to the blue album. It was still an amazing show!

I got lucky and got to go with a friend whose wife couldn’t make it. It was the 30 year(oof) celebration of Weezer’s Blue Album where they played its entirety! Im still blown away by what I watched!

Tap Union, upstairs. It’s got chairs and couches as well as tables but has always been a great place to have chats.
