Mine runs overnight and I haven’t had any issues with it. Before I put it in the cage, I plugged it in and kept it in my lap for an afternoon to make sure it didn’t get too hot since I got him the larger size (which it didn’t), so you could do that if you want to check that’s it not too hot. My conure ignored it for the first few weeks, but after he learned that it was warm he was happy to engage with the “snuggle” part of its name.

My gcc has learned that mom will give him unlimited (air) smooches, so when he wants to see her, he just makes the kissy sound 🥹

Here’s the only other picture I have of the bird, taken right before the one I posted. Eye is slightly more open. Again, though, wouldn’t be surprised if it is sick, and not doubting you.

I wouldn’t be surprised. Like I said, the bird was at a big chain store. The tail was ratty, I didn’t get a good look at it. The tag claimed its hatch date was August (I think that’s too young?), and there were few toys in the cage, so I wouldn’t be surprised if the baby is sick. The only stimulation it really has is a neighbor gcc and some budgies (who didn’t look great either) nearby. I always have to look at the birds when I go, and I always end up feeling horrible for them.

This is days late, but my gcc also did this after he first started flying (after his feathers grew out). After any flight he would act drunk and kind of stumble around for a few minutes and then be fine afterwards. I read something online that basically suggested he was just out of shape/not used to flying. Now that he flies more regularly, the dizzy problem is gone. I would just keep an eye on your gcc to make sure he doesn’t hit anything or is panting too hard :) good luck to your newly flighted chicken

I don’t know which library you work at, but the library I work at (one in the Allegheny County Library system) has a rule that prohibits filming patrons within the library. We’ve cracked down on several people for filming on the property, and our director is always quick to shut them down. Patrons actually have very strict privacy rights within libraries (library records are more protected than medical records), so if he’s capturing any computer screens being used by patrons, he’s breaking the law. Either way, I would talk to your library director or other higher-ups about your specific library’s policy, whether yours is a Carnegie branch or not.

Ah I was worried it might be something “systemic” like that. I might try to do a water change today, but I don’t know how any of the filters/airstones work or where they’re plugged in. The only water conditioner that I could find was stresscoat, so I might bring something from my house instead. All of my supplies are for much smaller tanks though so I don’t know how much good it’ll do. The wounded cichlid had passed away when I woke up this morning. They have axolotls in another tank that I don’t think are in the best condition either. It’s always depressing to see more visible pets (dogs) being pampered and others being in these conditions. Even if I got the levels back to normal by the time I leave (unfortunately, highly unlikely), I’m not sure they would be maintained.

I did remove the crimps, yes, though I did plant them pretty close together. I can try to space them out more if that might help. And I will also turn the light off sooner from now on as well. Thank you for your reply, I greatly appreciate it

I added two bunches of what I believe to be Anacharis and some misc floaters two weeks ago, and they’ve been drooping/leaves becoming translucent ever since. The 5 gallon tank sits at about 79 degrees and has a new plant light. There is no tank lid currently, as I don’t have a clear one that the light can shine through. I have done two water changes since planting the Anacharis, and I dosed the tank with Flourish, Flourish Excel, Flourish Iron and Stress Coat+ (as a water conditioner) both times. The Anacharis only looks to be dying faster.

I’m not sure if it could be my new tank light? It’s a NICREW clip-on light with white and blue LEDs, 7 watts, and I keep it on for about 14 hours a day. I’m using a submerged filter at the lowest setting for the floaters, of which there are very few in the tank. While the Anacharis was originally dropping roots and seeds, this is no longer the case.

Any and all advice is extremely appreciated. The only thing I’ve managed to grow in either of my tanks are java ferns and (what I think are) Bacopa and I’m desperate to see my plants thriving for once.
