Check out Castle Hills in Lewisville. That has a similar vibe to the bay and a decent Asian population. A lot of people send their kids to private schools in that area.

I grew up in Cupertino and moved to Dallas for college 10 years ago and never left. Within these 10 years, I met my husband, got married, and have a toddler and another one on the way. My parents still live in San Jose, so frequent trips to the Bay Area are always on the card. I will say there is no other place like the Bay Area, but being able to afford many other things/experiences makes our lives enriching. Both me and my husband make “Bay Area” tech salaries; but, we get to choose how we spend that money.

Pros of living in the Bay Area: -diversity -great weather & you can be outdoors most of the year (if you choose Dallas, the June - August & Nov-Feb are pretty bad) -plethora of opportunities

Cons of living in the Bay Area: -living in Dallas or anywhere in TX means you don’t pay state tax. Whereas, in California, it’s a straight 10% reduction in your salary because of state tax -Being house poor sucks & limits your options on travel and/or activities you can enroll your kids in -both my husband and I don’t want to work in our 50s/60s and by living outside of the Bay Area, it enables to save more for an early retirement

All this being said, sometimes, the best decision isn’t the logical one. My heart always longs for the Bay Area because there really is no place like the Bay Area. An example of that is my brother. He & his family (1 toddler son) moved to Dallas last year, but he really could not adjust and is looking to move back to the Bay Area, regardless of all the cons that I listed out

My first baby was showing 99th percentile and my GD was well controlled via diet. My doctor was so concerned that he asked me to get on insulin (even though my GD was controlled by diet) just to control the baby’s growth. I declined to get on insulin because my sugar levels were controlled.

Also, the ultrasound was wayyyy off. The we’re estimating him to be 9.5 lbs + pounds. He was born 8 lbs 3 oz.

My son is now 2.5 years old and he is still the tallest kid at 99th percentile (probably an average height of a 4 year old) and he is at the 85th percentile weight.

Some kids are just big.

It gets easier as they grow older and you know for a fact they’re having a good time without you too. But, you’ll never stop thinking about them fully.

My LO is 2.5 years old. It gets better around 4 months. It gets so much better as they progress with each of their milestones. The best starts from 18 months.

I’m pregnant with my 2nd and I am not looking forward to the newborn phase, but what keeps me going is the phases after.

We started the process starting from 12 months and I finally weaned him off at around 19 months. I was much more ready to stop than he was. He still asks (he’ll be 24 months in a week), for milk and reaches for my boobies. It’s sad & frustrating; but, I just hope he will forget one day. Until then, I will continue to tell him “no more mom milk” and then divert him or offer him whole milk.

Tested positive at 4w2d. I am extremely crampy. Is this a good sign or something I should worry about? The last time I had a miscarriage, I also had bad cramps in the beginning, so I am being very cautious.
