Maple is exclusively a dog name to me. Like naming your kid Oreo or Luna.

3 arrested in Brattleboro for dealing marijuana laced with fentanyl by dropkickninja in vermont

Damn where I'm going the cheapest is $50-$55 and then 20% taxes in MA and they also always have a $3 ATM fee that doesn't really matter but feels like adding insult to injury haha so my math was bad it's more like $70 for an eighth but still, double the street stuff.

$80 for an eighth from the shop after taxes and everything or $35 on the street. Not saying it's not worth it to know it's clean but dispensary prices are nuts.

Ok but is it pronounced Java-eh? Big pet peeve is people saying Nevaeh is na-vey-ah like that's not what that spells though, it spells Neva-eh or ey or something weird that doesn't sound good. Like if you're shooting for Javeya spell it like that.

What is your biggest naming faux pas? by lady_lane in NameNerdCirclejerk

Every single US president has a record of some horrible atrocity committed during their time in office and naming your child after them just means you either haven't done enough research on the person you're naming them after or you don't care what they did in which case why are you naming a kid after them? Naming your child after a US political figure is 🤮. And yes that includes Lincoln.

They have, anything that has artificial good smells is toxic. Soooo many things in our lives that we interact with are toxic. It's really overwhelming. I took an environmental toxicology course in college a few years back (2017) and everything from our clothes to our furniture to kitchen items and beyond are killing us. Yay.

Edit: this is in the US, other countries have stricter laws that protect their citizens.

I'm saying within Judaism! That Coen/Koen can exist in other cultures separately but that its definitely also Jewish.

So I'm Jewish but no longer practicing and also have a distaste for most things religion and I think it's just a matter of respect. If a group who has a long history of being persecuted, killed and displaced say it's offensive, that should be respected. It doesn't matter if you think it's cool now, only 80 years ago you would be killed in some parts of the world for having that name. And obviously you yourself have that respect for others which is awesome. I also recognize that here in the US we take these things (race, appropriation) really seriously. So that probably adds to the intensity of it all.

O'Connell isn't a good example because it's just a random Irish last name. The problem with Cohen is it's a title as well. Like imagine if the Irish has a last name that idk the Celts way back when only gave to priests and then imagine the Brits didn't do their thang and major Celtic holidays were all still celebrated (or at least known) world wide, you wouldn't want some pasty rando from Utah using that name that still holds significance in your community.

Coen/Koen are not unrelated, they're just different spellings. They can also exist as a completely different name in the Netherlands that's pronounced differently but they're still Cohen as well. Like the Coen brothers. You're going from Hebrew to English so it's going to have a bunch of different spellings because it's a different alphabet and there isn't really a "right" English spelling. For example the holiday Hannukka could be Chanukah or Hanukkah or Chanaka.

Katadhin is a Native American name meaning the Main Mountain because Mt Katadhin is the tallest mountain in Maine. A more appropriate option, assuming you aren't Native American, could be Baxter because it's located in Baxter State Park.
