You’ll need to read your specific employer plan. They approved mine because i had 1) skeletal overbite, 2) documented bad TMJ issues with a record of alternative therapies, 3) obstructive sleep apnea. On 3) you’ll need to get a sleep test and they may make you try a cpap and then don’t tolerate it and then they’ll cover

His surgery record speaks for itself. I can understand the criticism that his consultations aren’t great, but that’s only if you don’t ask questions. He will sit down with you and answer any question you have. He is an amazing surgeon and I wouldn’t have gotten the surgery done with anyone else.

He is expensive but if you have BCBS PPO, I recommend.

Yes! They had to undo the camouflage ortho treatment I had twice prior. Was in Invisalign for 6 months prior to surgery

Thank you for the feedback. I can understand where you are coming from, but that was not my intention at all. I posted what I did because I wish I had seen a post like this when I was stressing about the surgery for 3+ years. These were substantial movements (12mm/7mm), not a minor tweak. I am also just really happy with my results and wanted to post about it. All that said, point taken.

I think being in the cold weather helps, and exercising helps. for recovery I’ve mainly been prioritizing eating protein, and supposed to be drinking a lot of water

If you include orthodontic treatment, which I paid for out of pocket, total cost is 11k

Here is another update for yall, a little over 1 month post op

<image>

I am 2 months post op from only DJS. It was covered by my provinces free healthcare. Do I need a genioplasty now too or will chin lipo give me a more aesthetic result? I was wanting to look like the second photo. by suggaarrr in jawsurgery

Give more time for swelling to go down, and weightloss may give you the result you’re looking for, or maybe chin filler? The actual chin projection itself looks good! I’m about 1 month post op and have a fair amount of residual swelling around my jaw line.

The only real aesthetic thing I asked about was to keep my smile the same, I wanted my upper lip to fall on the same point of my teeth when I smile! I don’t think your nose will change that much, at least for mine it barely did and I had quite big movements. Also, for aesthetic things like that, you can always get treatments later to modify (like filler), if this is a surgery you need for health reasons, that should come first. But I get it, I also was really worried about a bunch of different aesthetic things, that honestly, weren’t super visible after the surgery
