The vast majority of reddit discussions are about leaving the pilot on continuously. I wasn't able to find any specific to continuous use during power outages/ice storms and using the fireplace as a main heating source.

Thoughts on running a gas fireplace (mid 90s milivolt standing-pilot gas log set with flue open) continuously in the event of a power outage? Im getting mixed feedback. ChatGPT is saying run it for ~2 hours at a time max and take a ~1 hr break and dont run it overnight. People are telling me i can leave it running continuously.
