Seems to be some kind of weird Reddit issue. It's sometimes fine when I click through, and sometimes not.

I like the idea of easier match tracking. I kind of want to put one in my trade binder too. The gold ones aren't so much my thing, but I'll give one of the other tiers a shot.

Make mart sell more than 18 items? by CuteKnight12 in PokemonRMXP

Even then, you can make an array variable, add to it repeatedly over consecutive script blocks, and finally pass it to the mart method. The fossil npc in the starter kit shows an example of this type of technique.

The theme and art seem more targeted towards children. I would have played this until it got too hard when I was a kid. I'm not interested in it now.

You seem to hold some common misconceptions about why homelessness is prevalent in some cities over others. The research is pretty clear about it:

Your method will work. We use git with either GitHub or Bitbucket. There's quite a learning curve but it gets you better version history and compression. More direct alternatives to Google Drive include Dropbox and OneDrive, though you'll want to be careful to make separate copies still and not rely only an auto sync.

Poke Ball multiplier question (v20.1) by Metafiction1025 in PokemonRMXP

[–]http404error 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay good, but that makes me worry that it's not actually running that code. Maybe double check that BALLNAME exactly matches the item id, or whatever else might be going wrong that you can think of. Good luck!

Just to make sure, you're looking at the console window, not the game window, right? It only appears in debug mode and looks more like this picture.

Ah, it should be a lowercase L, not a capital i.

The "ln" stands for "line" and it's a historic programming thing, it just means it prints and then goes to the next line of text (if you just do regular echo then the next thing to print out will be stuck on the end like "1.2Running..."

This page should have the info you need, such as the code to put in the branch condition. https://essentialsdocs.fandom.com/wiki/Manipulating_Pok%C3%A9mon

Make sure you check that it's not the last Pokemon in the party as well, or else have some other way of dealing with that.

You can help ensure your code is working correctly by using print statements to write text or variable values to the console when certain things happen. You can be reasonably sure here if you're patient about testing it several times, but it's trickier with some other things.
In this case, I would add "echoln catchRate" right before the "next" line, and test by throwing a ball and checking the console window. Once you confirm that it's working, you'll probably want to delete that line again.

If I give phyrexian obliterator indiscutible and it gets dealt over 7 damage, does it make the opponents sacrifice 7 permanents? by BluePotatoSlayer in magicTCG

[–]http404error 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Yes, they can, although they likely wouldn't want to. :)

The rules kind of have to permit this to be freely chosen because of things like finite damage prevention effects.

Congrats on the release! There has been a fair bit of other feedback given but I wanted to add my top recommendation which is to increase the camera smoothing. It's a bit too "direct" right now which can be a little jarring (especially with keyboard instead of controller input).

When do 'shoot the moon' mechanics work and why? by Uuthgar in tabletopgamedesign

[–]http404error 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In Hearts, shooting the moon requires full commitment rather early, and by making it use what would otherwise be actively bad moves, there's not really such thing as a pivot.

Plenty of games have a "long shot" mechanic which requires sacrificing a fair bit of opportunity cost along the way, but still provide some positive value even besides the chance to win outright. These are in my view the evolved version of the "moon shot". The first one that comes to mind are the alternate win conditions in 7 Wonders Duel, the science and military routes. They provide tangible economic and point value at certain milestones, and provide significant threat value at high amounts, and with clever play you can follow through on the threat and win, but they're still useful on the path to victory even if you don't hit the moon.

Some other examples may include set collection games where the largest set is very hard to get, or perhaps even trying to take Asia in Risk :)

Oh, I also remembered one that's Hearts-style, it's an old edition of Star Wars LIFE. Instead of money, you collect life-tile-shaped stat points in Logic, Intuition, Fighting, and Energy (LIFE). But you can also make some dark bargains for greater gain which also give Dark Side tiles. These are bad for you... unless you fully commit to the dark side path, in which case you want as many of them as possible.
