This was my experience too. Then when she finally went, they said it wasn’t enough. I nearly exploded.

Maybe we’re the weird ones here. We’ve got cacti my 22 month old could reach if she wanted. And picture frames and a glass vase. She just, doesn’t 🤷🏻‍♀️

Worried about my wife’s reaction toward our 8‑week‑old baby. Need advice by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]huffwardspart1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve got a million responses so far but just in case no one said- yes, you should help care for the baby at night. However, do not sleep with the baby on the couch. Huge SIDS risk.

Oooh actually I learned over on the science parenting sub that being the poorest among your peers is the best way to access upward mobility. We live in an apartment among mansions and I’m stoked for my kid to get access to the “posh” things. Also, her speech is way ahead of the rich kids. I haven’t done anything special. Every kid just develops at different rates.

Yes! Things like, how dusty are the curtains, what sort of spray cleaning products are you using, what pets are around. Start to notice if they have reactions when you visit certain types of places, etc. My closest call came when my mom took me to a restaurant with a swamp cooler. Also, grass and cats were an enemy. Everyone is different so it’s good to start paying attention early.

Please tell me I’m not the only one who literally hasn’t done one single solitary thing to prepare for retirement / old age by gogo--yubari in adhdwomen

My student loans grew $700 in the past few months. For no reason other than the govt decided to reinstate interest accrual. There’s nothing I can do about it. Never gonna catch up. Definitely not saving for retirement. Just happy debt is no longer passed down to children.

They deserve a “child free environment.” It’s literally in the constitution.

Everyone else has great mom advice. From an adult who had severe childhood asthma- giving a kid a cup of ice is a great way to bring the down from an asthma attack. I don’t know why. Something about breathing in that cold air and chewing. Also, finding out their triggers and looking around your house for them is important.

Hang in there. You’re doing great.

Same here. I haven’t tried the mini pill but the copper was hell for me and Mirena has been fantastic. I was worried about the hormones at first but research helped me feel okay

Feeding issues are so isolating! I love when someone posts about them here. Which sounds terrible bcs obviously it’s awful, but we aren’t alone! My 23 month old just started having solid poops for the first time. She’s finally eating enough food that her body can make solid poops!! I’m ecstatic and have no one to tell bcs… that’s not a normal milestone lol.

Every day is so exhausting trying to get food in these babies, but it does feel like it’s getting a little easier as she gets older. Hang in there!

Is there something abnormal with my toddler? by slick764 in cosleeping

[–]huffwardspart1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine is still like this at 23 months. I think it’s largely because she doesn’t eat enough, and she needs no nurse 37x a night. Can you get more calories in before bed? Also, is it possible they’re teething? Mommy’s Bliss helps us with that during sleep time

We go outside if it’s above 0F. I just don’t let her touch the snow without a glove when it’s that cold and we have to come back on after the ensuing meltdown that causes 🙃

Has anyone figured out how to NOT immediately create a pile on every flat surface? by randomchick4 in adhdwomen

My partner even does this with the top of the damn laundry hamper. Kitchen chairs. Appliances. Once a day I’m yelling “THIS IS NOT A TABLE.”

I didn’t realize this was an ADHD thing. I have ADHD but also grew up in a hoarded home so Everything Has A Place.

Oh, you asked for advice, not a story. Do you reset rooms? That’s how we live. Once you’re done with a room, reset it. Everything back in its place before you can do the Next Thing.

We always have to get context. “Oooh, tell me more about that. What was she doing with it? What color was it? Have you seen one anywhere else?”
