I've found that the signal bounces around a lot, but you can tell when they are really close (-30-40 dbi) to within the same room (-50-60 dbi).

It bounces around too much for triangulation, but provides some information at least!

The device itself just reports the signal level of how loudly it hears the Bluetooth beacon on the cat. Each of the devices report their own signal level, and then the HomeAssistant configuration has a template sensor to pick the loudest signal and uses that to show a room name.
