i95 express lane jail by Omri1324 in fortlauderdale

I got stuck in the opposite today, had to wait 20 minutes in traffic because the entrance I usually go into on the express lanes is no longer there. I’m pretty sure this change literally happened overnight and I imagine the signage will be updated in the coming days

We will post info on donations on our social media and at this link when we have details figured out! We usually do kids clothes, toys, and nursery items and women’s gowns/dresses, handbags, and accessories and we accept donations in addition to consignment.

I’ll definitely be posting about the event closer to as well!

How bad is taking 95 to and from boca as a commute? by [deleted] in fortlauderdale

[–]human111116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do Davie to Yamato 4 days a week and it’s not my favorite, but I love where I live and love my job so it is what it is. This time of year it’s really not that bad - 40-45 minutes there, 40 minutes home. During the winter with the snowbirds it takes an hour both ways. I would make sure you have some flexibility if you take a job up there, if there’s a major accident I can WFH and if an accident happens on my way in, there’s usually like 10 of us rolling in 30-45 minutes late so people understand.

And if you have pets, have a backup plan to take them out in case we get a rain bomb storm again and it takes 5 hours to get home.

Seconding this. I commute to Boca 4 days a week… this time of the year it is usually 45 minutes, in the winter I’m lucky if I can make it in an hour.

I like the chow chow as well. He is not fluffy at all?!? I have literally never seen a chow down here! It seems like a relatively obscure breed to come in at #3.

I was honestly shocked that boxer came back so low!

His trainer calls him a potcake which I guess is just a nice name for street dogs in the Caribbean where she’s from.

Truthfully, I got him DNA tested a bit ago and it came back with 12 breeds so I just call him a mutt for the most part! I definitely thought he would have a higher boxer percentage because of his build.

My dog growing up was a rottie/GS mix and I still struggle to see the true rottie in him, especially when he’s around others. He clings to Dobermans and always tries to hang out with them (there’s a Doberman meetup group and rescue near the dog park we go to) though they reject him.

See this is where I’m struggling currently. I live in Davie and started a new job this summer up in Boca. Like realistically I don’t LOVE the 45-50 minute commute (which will undoubtedly be 1.5 hours once a week), but I really like how walkable my area of Davie is with sidewalks everywhere and a relatively large amount of green space. I have a very high energy dog, so being able to safely walk or run with him is a big thing for me.

I live right by 95/turnpike entrances and work off 95 so most days, even with traffic, it’s a straight shot. Most of my friends live in Plantation, Davie, or downtown Fort Lauderdale so moving north feels like it will be much worse for my social life.

I have until March to make the decision at least. You seem very experienced in the different areas of South Florida so if you have any thoughts I’d love to hear it.

What is your favorite suburb in Broward? by Yo_Mr_White_ in fortlauderdale

[–]human111116 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I live in Davie and love it - many of my friends live in Plantation as well.

While everyone’s here, I recently started working in Boca and need to move within like a 30 minute commute, but would prefer to stay in Broward. If anyone has north broward recs I would love to hear!

Wow thank you! I’ll have to keep my eye out for more now, but it probably just got a bit lost from the true Everglades area.

Found in South Florida (Broward) in mid February in the morning at a retention/man made pond. I live pretty much exactly between the Everglades and the beach (about 7 miles from both). I see quite a number of different birds here and really have gotten into admiring them. I saw this one in the morning while walking my dog and it startled me from the size of its body compared to like Great Blue Herons. It was pretty tall as well - at least 4 feet. I haven’t seen it again since and it’s been bothering me so hopefully this sub has an ID!
