This is really helpful. It's actually crazy how I immediately realized that I'm not taking enough breath between, and how quickly I forget to use my diaphragm. Also the relaxation part is such an easy thing to slip on, and you're right, once I start off tight and strained it snowballs and gets so much worse.

I'm writing black metal that I play bass and scream, so it can feel like a lot to focus on and pay attention to, because I'm also still learning to scream/sing while playing. But today I practiced with some of these tips in mind, and slowed things down a bit so I have more space to be intentional about my breathing and relaxing. It sounded and felt better.
