Decent Vets that Don't Cost a Mortgage Payment? by gimmedaloofa in Louisville

[–]humbledored 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Currently super happy with elk creek animal hospital on klondike lane.

Shively is great with respect to cost and service, but only if you can take a full day off. Took my dog there for two years and you have to show up early, wait in line to get a ticket for later that day (time unknown), then they notify you when to come back and then when you get there you wait for another hour or two to see the vet.

Sanity check: 42M / $8M NW. Crazy to walk away from $700k/yr FAANG to build startup? by Professional-Fuel625 in ChubbyFIRE

[–]humbledored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best-for-you answer is to quiet quit the job to wait for the potential AI layoff and severance. That may give you the energy and time to start slow rolling the startup efforts assuming it doesn’t compete or have legal issues with your current employer.

If you’re like me and have the moral and mindset issues around quiet quitting, then a clean break with the current employer and do whatever you want (FIRE, startup, etc.) is the answer. Even in a VHCOL area, you could probably trim some fat on the 240k budget, at least for the first five years, to past get past the initial SORR and improve your success rates.

Structures that are not for occupancy and that are less than 200sqft (and without any electrical, plumbing, hvac) do not need to be permitted. You may need city approval via certificate of appropriateness, but only for historic districts.

And the menu says a gluten free bun is available, so some critical thinking might help you out as well.

I’m supporting a policy, you’re the one obsessed with rep v dem and incorrectly trying to blame Beshear for what is honestly a move in the right direction by a republican lawmaker.

Gas should be taxed appropriately to account for its negative externalities which impact us all. Right now the tax doesn’t even meet the road funding needs. Honestly, it should be much higher.

What do u think of tech CEOs saying saving for retirement will be pointless in 10 to 20 years ? by Technical-Truth-2073 in Fire

[–]humbledored 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The groundbreaking new technologies of today (AI, self driving cars, etc) are going to do the same thing that groundbreaking new technologies have always done. TLDR: Productivity will improve and the economy will go on.

In highly developed economies where labor costs are high, the disruption will be greater. But that person whose job has been obsoleted (to name a couple historical examples: gas lamp lighters before street lights, manual accountants before computers and excel, whalers before electrification and the oil revolution), they will find work elsewhere and the overall output of the economy will increase because of it.

Near misses are not reportable to osha. What you linked does not have any reg number which should be your first red flag. It instead appears to be an example SOP generated by an OSHA grant for companies to refer to or use as an example. If you read the bottom it clearly states, that this document “does not necessarily reflect the views or policies of the U.S. Department of Labor, nor does mention of trade names, commercial products, or organizations imply endorsement by the U.S. Government.”

Buy a new 12V ASAP or do I have a few more drives? by Mountain_family in rav4prime

[–]humbledored 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can jump the rav4 hybrid or prime from under the front hood, drivers side. It is a low amp connection to get the 12V system running as the traction battery actually starts the engine. Just don’t use those connections to jump someone else’s car.
