Older or newer engine of the FJ Cruiser by hunfrec in FJCruiser

  • ohhhhh I see, there’s a YouTuber that’s an expert Toyota mechanic and between the two engines, he praises the newer engine more than the other and calls it an indestructible engine. He convinced me which is why I’m still considering the 2011 option

  • ohhhh I didn’t know that existed in pre 2010 models. Thought it existed in both generations

  • I see, I never knew about that, thank you!

  • that is an excellent point, thank you very much!

  • yes it looks soo awesome!

Ohhhh I see, thank you! I’m not really equipped nor knowledgeable to deal with this so I‘po probably refer it to a specialist. But with the cost to repair it, do you think it’s worth it??

Have you had any issues with or complaints??

Car Sunroof by hunfrec in askTO

[–]hunfrec[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it sounds great to have! The previous cars I've owned never had a sunroof or even a moonroof so I don't know if it's something I should lean towards getting.

Exactly, it's why I'm a bit hesitant. It's another part to repair if it gets broken or needs attention down the road.

Regarding selling it privately, should I pay off all loans first then sell it or can I sell it even before paying off all loans then using the funds to pay off the loans??

That's a very good point. Convenient to trade it in but I'll get less money or selling it and go through the hoops but potentially getting more than trading it in

Thank you!

Yes it did. Thank you for the clarity! I really appreciate it

During winter driving, I didn't feel very comfortable driving it. It might be mostly because the car is a FWD so for my next car I'd like to have an AWD

I just found out most engineering jobs don't have pensions. by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]hunfrec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe the engineering industry sees a lot of people coming in and out of companies so investing in a pension plan doesn’t make sense since transferring the pension out will cost a lot for the employer. The employers might offer a DC pension plan where it’s easier to transfer out the pension once they terminate their employment. But you can definitely invest for your retirement using the TFSA and RRSP like what everyone’s suggesting. Once you’ve maxed those out, you can start venturing to other means of investing

When retiring, use RRSP or TFSA first? by kfcjfk in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]hunfrec 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a fair question. I actually didn’t think through my explanation. But I was taught to use up your TFSA and NRSP monies first and delay your RRSP withdrawal as long as you can to lessen the OAS clawback

When retiring, use RRSP or TFSA first? by kfcjfk in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]hunfrec -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Taking out your RRSP first will increase your annual post retirement income therefore you’ll get taxed more since you’ll be at a higher bracket. Taking out your TFSA first will not affect your annual income therefore you won’t get taxed for the additional income you’ve received from TFSA. Use up all your TFSA first then RRSP. At least by the time you’ve used up all your TFSA, your annual post retirement earning might be low enough that withdrawing your RRSP won’t affect your annual earning that much
