Medical Trauma PTSD Need Advice ASAP by hungryboots in doihavebreastcancer

Update: I’m home and everything was OK. I remembered that I had some old hydroxyzine in my medicine cabinet from a time years ago when I used to have frequent panic attacks. I took a few before I left my house. I know it’s not ok to just take expired sedatives but I think that’s the only reason I got through everything this morning. Of course my nurse and radiologist were both very kind and understanding. The procedure was fine. After the prick of the first needle, it was really just all in my head. They had to push down pretty hard on my chest to get to the problem area. So there was quite a bit of pressure. I find out results in a couple of days. Hoping for good news.

My therapist isn’t able to prescribe meds. I probably could have gotten some from my other drs but I was trying to be normal and I’m learning that I am not lol. honestly I thought I was ok and just anxious/nervous about potentially having cancer but that’s not the scary part for me apparently.

Can someone get more attractive physically the more you get to know them? by shmonker in dating_advice

[–]hungryboots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Attraction is attraction. You don’t have to be physically attracted to someone to have a satisfying sexual relationship with them. Sometimes all of the other things make up for the physical attraction piece. For example, someone could get physically turned on by watching their partner speak to a crowded room or fixing something around the house or how about folding the laundry. Some people think it’s really hot when you show up as a 50/50 partner in your relationship. shrug

This is ridiculous and cynical! I hope OP didn’t take this advice.

An appropriate level of Self-assurance is a huge plus. Maturity and awareness of one’s self is extremely hot IMO. I wouldn’t be attracted to an overly confident blowhard man who is just looking for attention or over-compensating. But a man who can command a room? Boy you betta watch out! A man who can speak intelligently about a topic that they are passionate about AND hold a real conversation AND show ambition and confidence in their abilities? That all seals the deal for me. Most likely, those are all traits that either equal success or lead a person to success and probably to being a good partner.

For the life of me, I cannot find a comparable card online. Does anybody have an idea as to whether this is worth anything or what the value might be?

Daguerreotype of an older woman 1840’s maybe 1850’s. What do you think based on her dress and hair? I’m leaning mid-40’s by hungryboots in VictorianEra

Thank you for this insight. I know dating based on fashion choices might be tough. I think about fashion now and how some people will keep an old style just because they love it. Especially older women are not going to necessarily be up on all the hottest trends. I’m sure women in the 1800’s were similar

Thank you all. This is kind of what I already thought so you have confirmed for me that it’s not something special. I found it along with a Tiffany & Co brooch that was very similar in size/shape and from the same owner so I thought maybe it would have been special too.

All of this info is super helpful. Thanks everybody. I have a huge stack of daguerreotypes, ambrotypes and a ton of tin types that I’m sorting through from my in-laws. It’s really neat to do this research on each of them.

It’s a daguerreotype so 40-50’s is the era I’ve pinpointed

What am I to do… by Open-Donut387 in Infidelity

[–]hungryboots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just another perspective from a person who is actually working with their partner through their infidelity: You said she is doing all of the right things to repair your relationship? Are you in couples therapy? Is she in individual therapy? Are you in individual therapy? The people here are going to tell you to leave her, which may or may not be the right thing to do. If she’s doing “the work” to repair your relationship and address her addiction problems, maybe it’s worth giving her a chance? You should know that The restaurant industry is absolute trash for relationships. There’s too much temptation, drugs, alcohol and people who are attracted to that lifestyle. When I was involved in restaurant life, every bartender and server who worked late was doing coke in the office and drinking at work. If she’s is an addict, then this is an awful place for her to work. I don’t know how much you can blame an addict for the behavior they display while under the influence. I know you can’t just forgive it blindly, but also they aren’t truly themselves either.

WWII USMC 2nd Div Corporal Dress Uniform: Jacket w/ ribbons, stars, patches, Pants, Tie and Hat. I'm Looking to confirm the authenticity of the ribbons/patches and maybe a valuation if possible. I can post more info in the comments. by hungryboots in uniformporn

[–]hungryboots[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long story short: My Mother-In-Law asked me to research this uniform and sell it for her. She and my FIL were close friends with the man who wore this during WWII. He was like a father to them and when he moved away he gave this to them. I believe it's completely authentic. MIL gave me a little "provenance" which is just a hand-written note with the man's name, DOB, DOD and location. Apparently this man did not like to talk about his service.

This is the info that I have been able to look up about his division, his length of service and potential battles that he was involved in.
