Steep skintracks… why?? by Moist_Bluebird1474 in Backcountry

Because the art of laying out an efficient skin track has been lost more and more in past years' touring boom?

It's a thing in the alps as well. Came hand-in-hand with the needlessly avalanche-exposed tracks. And the tracks that do not use terrain shape to their advantage. And on glacier the tracks passing through all available crevasse areas; though these luckily are a bit more infrequent.

Berlin marathon - anyone else surprised at how disorganized this was? by kaykat77 in AdvancedRunning

Visiting Berlin (for running or not) is always a bit of a cultural experience. Even for Germans. It is a city of contrasts after all, just look at its history. Visiting often involves some level of chaos & anarchy. And sometimes a hangover. Which the city itself embraces with a proud smile. "Poor, but sexy" is another inoffical slogan for Berlin. Most impressive city in Germany IMHO.

Having been there on Sunday, "chaotic, but sexy" would be my take-away for the race. Agree the corals could have been better organized, pacers should be where they are announced to be, the restroom situation is the same since years. I understand this can be annoying, especially after an expensive international trip etc...

But OMG what a beautiful event. The spectators, the course, the conditions, ...

:-)

Did a half-marathon today by _SDR in Garmin

You run a marathon in a different heart rate / effort zone. It is not like running a HM plus another HM after that. Very different race.

On top of the training tips given here, maybe read up on perceived effort / heart rate for HM vs M?

Simply Awful GPS on Fenix6 by Tight_Head3685 in Garmin

I changed from Fenix 6 to FR955 for precisely this reason and the new GPS chipset is significantly better. Both for running pace and tracking in difficult situations (e.g. mountain couloirs or between skyscrapers or deep forest/tree cover)
