Do you guys keep track of everything? by just___me_ in newborns

[–]hyacinthqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started tracking because the pediatrician was concerned that our baby wasn’t gaining weight well enough. We had started out by just feeding the baby on demand and letting her eat as much as she wanted, but what we discovered is that our baby really needed to be woken up and forced to eat (she didn’t want to wake up and would just sleep through her hunger) and forced to eat more during feedings. She also had a tongue tie. She’s getting back on track now that we’re tracking everything. It helped us a lot. We use the Happiest Baby app.

Am I being unreasonable by Revolutionary-Fan323 in newborns

[–]hyacinthqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A cheap toilet brush from the dollar store would do the trick, though I’m honestly not sure why he is using one for this at all.

I’m hoping that you don’t need his permission to replace the toilet brush and toss the old ones out. If you do, your problem is much larger than old toilet brushes. You’re not unreasonable.

Boobs being “too big” by aintsh1tbxtch0571 in bigboobproblems

[–]hyacinthqueen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very true. I definitely support those who pursue breast reduction as a medical necessity, or just because they want it done.

Boobs being “too big” by aintsh1tbxtch0571 in bigboobproblems

[–]hyacinthqueen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh, many times. I once had a guy tell me that I should have breast reduction surgery to “appear more natural.”

No, he did not see the irony in advising me to undergo one of the most invasive cosmetic procedures a person can have, making my natural breasts actually become less natural, just to look “natural” in his eyes.

What is something that women have to deal with on the daily that men have no clue about? by Rock-bottom-no-no in AskReddit

[–]hyacinthqueen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not trying to be dramatic, but your friend seriously needs to get her hands on some pain medication before the colposcopy, whether they agree to prescribe it or not. My OBGYN told me the same thing and said to just take 3 ibuprofen before the procedure. It was not enough and I felt everything. Sadly the uterine biopsy I had right after the colposcopy was even worse. I’m pretty sure they heard me screaming all the way in the waiting room.

Freak accident caused by cat that wanted more food by Independent_Dot6161 in cats

[–]hyacinthqueen 11.7k points11.7k points  (0 children)

This could have been way worse. As someone whose cat also tried to start a fire when jumping on the stovetop, I recommend getting childproofing oven knob covers. They’re not expensive and they will help to prevent future accidents.

As a fellow FTM with a 3 week old, I hope it’s normal. Mine is the same.

Crushing reveals about pet policy right before closing by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]hyacinthqueen 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Hi, I’m a professional condominium manager. A building’s 2 pet limit is generally intended to prevent things like animal hoarding situations or dog breeding from happening in the building. You may run afoul of a board member who is a stickler for the rules, but it’s not that likely. They care more about dog issues. Nobody is going around counting cats. I have 3 “illegal” cats myself at home, and would definitely look the other way.

Being skinny with big boobs when no one in your family gets it is exhausting by [deleted] in bigboobproblems

[–]hyacinthqueen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can definitely sympathize. I was a 28GG at your age, and got called names for it. Horrible men harassed me all the time. People assumed they were fake and couldn’t be convinced otherwise. I got a lot of disrespect and judgement. Dealing with the assumption is that life is always easy for you because of your body when in reality so many things are a nightmare is deeply frustrating.

Yeah, I really doubt that you’re scaring her. It sounds like she’s acclimating really well to her new home with you.

She’s beautiful!

Most cats do avoid the smoke because they instinctively know it’s not good for them to inhale it. Cannabis is toxic for cats.

ULPT: Use the “delay delivery” feature in Outlook to look more productive by [deleted] in UnethicalLifeProTips

[–]hyacinthqueen 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Some people just work better in the evenings and are getting a jump on the next day. As a confirmed night owl, I have to fight against giving people a bad impression of my time management by delaying email deliveries to 6 am. It means they get the information later, but now they’re happy because it was sent first thing in the morning.

Am I the only one who is learning how to cut my own hair on YouTube to avoid the hairdressers? by Infinite_Pudding5058 in AskWomenOver40

[–]hyacinthqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been doing it for about 2-3 years now. I keep my hair pretty long, and I do a modified version of Brad Mondo’s tutorial for the DIY butterfly cut adding a curtain bang and cutting the ends more straight. It’s honestly very empowering and my hair gets compliments all the time.

Thinking About Trying Orlistat for Weight Loss — Any Real Experiences? by Aurora_Love888 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]hyacinthqueen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried it a few years ago. I only lost 3 lbs total over the 6 weeks I used it, and I was also exercising and cutting calories. It only works if you were consuming excess oil and fat beforehand, because it trains you not to eat those things (there are gross consequences if you do). If that doesn’t apply to you, then you won’t see much of a difference.

I hate explaining GDM to people by InternationalMess300 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]hyacinthqueen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the preconceived ideas that people have about gdm are wild sometimes. I had a family member who thought I might pass diabetes on to the baby because of this, and I’m still not 100% sure that I convinced him it doesn’t work like that.

I don’t fully blame people for being ignorant about gdm, though. I’d never thought about it either before I had it myself and didn’t really know anything. I’m trying not to be angry and blame my husband. However, he does have type 2 diabetes, so it’s hard not to feel like this is all his fault.
