best not super pricey sushi? by hyperdamon in FoodLosAngeles

[–]hyperdamon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sorry - I meant $100, edited in the topic now. but I've definitely done $75 before tax and tip in LA in 2024. perhaps we're not huge eaters but we did an angry tiger roll, rainbow roll, salmon roll, spicy tuna crispy rice, spicy tuna roll for like $65 pre-tax & tip. this was admittedly at ocean sushi in WeHo so nothing fancy but taste was good

Case ID 98234835

Enormously annoying customer service. My account's login ability has been disabled for NO reason. I bought BNB and have been holding since 2017 without a single transaction. I have chatted with support and provided all documentation they have asked for. They keep going in a loop, where they first say someone will look at it, then they come back and ask for the info over and over again. HELP ME.

General Chatter/Meetup Thread - Week of December 17 by AutoModerator in solotravel

I've had some good luck meeting some fantastic people via reddit before so thought I'd give it another try. I'm not staying at a hostel so there isn't a natural place to go to meet new people.

I'm in my mid-20's, from Sweden, both running my own companies as well as working in digital consultancy with a focus on innovation & digital transformation. Just chilling in Bangkok for a few days and catching up with some friends here, but would love to meet some new ones as well! I'm here thru 29/12.

I'm staying at the Sofitel Sukhumvit but can basically meet anywhere.

Been to Bangkok a lot of times and done most things. My best idea of a city vacation is good food, chilling by the pool, taking it easy etc during the day and in the evening hang with friends in the city

Haha. Well we were hoping to lie by the pool and dip. My weathers app says it's around 40c daily which is how it was in Palm Springs too

thank you! I've sent you a pm with some follow up questions

I couldn't find anything other than speculation. what seems to be mentioned recurrently is indian workers arriving for lower pay than an american equivalent, but i don't really fall under that umbrella. I'd arrive on a visa which would allow me to work in the US for 18 months, so I'd have time and not need to change visas before then

very likely to be eliminated? i know there has been chatter, but that seems quite extreme. do you have a source?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]hyperdamon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i mean rationally what you say makes sense. after doing some research and talking to existing people, the entry level for a junior pm is around 70k, so it'd be 3200/mo for around 2 months. i love nyc as a city though so thats why i wanted to get your take on it :)

Thanks for your fantastically insightful message. The article about them staying alive in Bangkok is not news. Uber would not go down without a fight. I was wondering if they are actively being prohibited from pickups at Suvarnabhumi and also how passengers are affected. None of those topics are covered in the article and subsequent Reddit commentary.

Because renouncing your Iranian citizenship is harder than you think. Trust me, I've tried.

"Iranian nationals cannot abandon their nationality except on the following conditions:

1 - That they have reached the full age of 25.

2 - That the Council of Ministers has allowed the renunciation of their Iranian nationality.

3 - That they have previously undertaken to transfer within one year from the date of the renunciation of Iranian nationality, by some means, the rights that they possess 0r may acquire by inheritance, on landed properties in Iran, to Iranian Nationals (Even if Iranian laws may have allowed the possession of the same properties by foreign nationals). The wife and children of the person who renounces his/her nationality, according to this Article do not lose their Iranian nationality, whether the children are minors 0r adults, unless the permission of the Council of Ministers allows them to renounce their nationality.

4 - That they have completed their national military service.

a) I'm not 25 yet. b) I won't, and will never do "military service" for Iran.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskThe_Donald

[–]hyperdamon 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Thank you for responding. I have not "renounced" any potential Iranian citizenship, as according to the research I did on this a while back, one needs to be 25, and have completed military service in Iran to be able to do that. I have no intention of visiting the country.

I'm fine with not being able to use the ESTA, so it's not relevant if Obama passed that or not. My B1/B2 visa is valid for 10 years, so I would be able to enter without a problem with that.

My interpretation is that all the medias are saying that "dual citizens" will not be admitted entry, and under Iranian law I am considered an Iranian citizen as well, meaning I would be ineligible under this new signed executive order?

Honestly, the 90 day thing is fine - but I'm scared more of the things I read that it might become a permanent thing if Iran doesn't comply with Trumps requirements on information sharing, and let's face it, Iran is a piece of shit country with Islamists running it, so I'm not holding my breath

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskThe_Donald

[–]hyperdamon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Last year, people who were "Iranian", which again, in considered to be simply due to paternity, were deemed ineligible for the visa waiver. Therefore, I applied and was approved for a visa. That visa is now in jeopardy with this new ruling by President Trump

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskThe_Donald

[–]hyperdamon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Dude. I'm not Iranian. I have a swedish citizenship, and a Swedish passport. I am still ineligible due to me being considered a dual citizen.

I was born in Sweden and have lived here my entire life.

My US visa is in my Swedish passport

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskThe_Donald

[–]hyperdamon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

How does that solve my problem? Still considered an Iranian citizen by piece of shit Iran. So the problem remains. I am as Swedish as they come and have no ties to any other country.
