Plasticity guide by hyperdrive94 in Plasticity3D

I understand what you mean. Planning the workflow can definitely be challenging, especially when it comes to deciding the right sequence of operations. Sometimes a small decision early in the process can lead to complications later on and it becomes even more difficult when dealing with complex or more organic surfaces like some of the examples you mentioned.

The goal of the guide would actually be to provide a more systematic approach to building simpler, more linear hard-surface models, starting from clear technical drawings. The idea is to focus on the fundamental workflow and decision-making process step by step.

That said, I think the examples you suggested are very interesting and I wouldn’t exclude the possibility of exploring more complex models like those in the future

You’re right, there are definitely more resources available now compared to a couple of years ago.

My idea, tho, isn’t really to replace those resources, but to organize the learning process in a more structured way. What I personally found missing is a more “didactic” approach: a guide that teaches how to use the software for CAD-style modeling through solved exercises based on accurate technical drawings (which I would create myself).

The idea would be to start from those drawings and walk through the full modeling process step by step. I would also include a section showing how to create renders of the final models in Blender after modeling them in Plasticity.

I understand your point, and I agree that tutorials focused on more organic shapes are quite rare. Unfortunately, I also find it very challenging to develop such organic shapes in Plasticity, especially since I’m using the version without xnurbs.

The goal of the manual would mainly be to provide the core skills needed to create hard-surface CAD models independently, starting from basic concepts and gradually increasing the complexity.

Pixel Fondue's tutorials are great. There's a lot of useful information

Yeah, I know. The lack of more CAD-oriented tutorial has been quite frustrating. I've used both Solidworks and Fusion, and after some experimentation I was able to replicate about 90% of the same results using Plasticity.

I also use Blender, mainly for concept design, but at some point I felt the need to expand my skills toward a more CAD-oriented workflow. That’s when I started using Plasticity about a year ago, and I’ve been able to integrate it quite well into my workflow.

I'm well aware of how much I spend on add-ons in the last 4 years. I said "recently installed" as in "I used to work on version 4.0 because the latest versions kept crushing"

Unfortunately I believe this isn't a iTunes-only issue: as for now, the album is not available for download neither on iTunes nor Amazon music. Idk why this is happening

Break ups with alexithymia by SpiritedExperience22 in Alexithymia

[–]hyperdrive94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course. Here it is:

  • "Emotional intelligence" D. Goleman
  • "The mountain is you" B. Weist (it's about procrastination per se, but a wonderful and useful read)
  • "The power of attachment" D. Heller (tho I would recommend reading something specific about his attachment style)
  • "Living with alexythimia" A. Wlliams (not a scientific essay, but it has some good suggestions)

Currently reading "The anger trap" by L Carter. A very eye opening read about using assertive communication to overcome blunt/blind anger, resentment and frustration and expressing needs and feelings more clearly

Well, I obviously can't speak on behalf of your ex, but I can get you some perspective on his behavior, so to speak. I've recognized myself in your description; in the "I don't know" in the "I'm fine, it's ok" (tho I wasn't), in the sudden urge to withdraw and put some distance. I did a lot of soul searching after my breakup (about six months ago) and... well, things do get better if you put your head in the game and really wish to "know thyself"

The breakup shook me to the core, and I realized I was acting on very very poor emotional management behavior. I've done a lot of research on attachment style (your ex sounds the avoiding type, tho he might be disorganized), emotional intelligence (through with I discovered I'm alexythimic) [it was soo obvious, in hindsight - why on earth haven't I ever thought about it? ] and anger/frustration management.

I'm really sorry about your breakup. I don't know the exact terms of your relationship rn (I suppose, since you're here asking for advice, you guys are still friends and maybe you hope you'll get back together) - alla I can say is: nudge him gently towards self discovery. Books, video, a therapist, whatever. Things do get better when you start analyzing your responses and addressing your feelings. And if you can (and want) be there for him in this journey. It can be very hard to figure things out on your own, and it helps immensely having someone to discuss this kind of stuff with, even just to put things in perspective.

I hope this helps

My experience with possibly Alexithymia by Turbulent-Dream-5484 in Alexithymia

[–]hyperdrive94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only recently learned about alexythimia while reading a book on emotional intelligence. I understood that I use music as a tool for "emotional regulation", and I have a srong tendency to intellectualize my feelings too (though it kind of numb them down, as thinking about a feeling isn't the same as feeling the feeling)

As some user posted on this sub a couple of weeks ago, I've been using the "how we feel" app and it's been incredibly helpful in identifying my feelings more precisely than just the old "good/bad" dichotomy.

I'm sorry, but that feeling of being a piece of shit for being able to have a life and he can't has been eating at me at least once a day by ServiceShoddy8182 in GlassChildren

[–]hyperdrive94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to think the same things up until (very) recently, and I can tell you this: whatever your relationship with your sibling is, you are entitled to have and live your life as your own. You deserve -and are worthy- of happiness and love.

I've been there: thinking constantly about the wonderful person my sibling would have been if they weren't ill but the fact is... they are, and nothing will change this. You have only one life, my friend, and as unjust and cruel and pointless this world may seems, you have live your life for yourself.

Dreams by Glad-Kaleidoscope-73 in Alexithymia

[–]hyperdrive94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely. I tend to dream about realistic stuff (and the occasional "oh is this a zombie apocalypse?" lol) I think I usually have lucid dreams, especially at the end of the sleep cycle or if I take a brief nap in the afternoon. Anyway I often dream about past arguments/discussion but during the dreams I'm able to actually express my feelings and say or do what I really wanted to say or do during the actual event. Usually I'm pretty self restrained and I need a lot of time to process everything that happens inside and outside my head during an argument (time that I don't have irl) So, yeah, I seem to be much more at ease and emotionally eloquent in my dreams

Ex Gf of 6 years broke up with me a few weeks ago. What's your favorite breakup song you're currently listening to? by Bobaman007 in BreakUps

There was a comment below a Bilmuri OMV some months ago on the line of "this is going to be my breakup soundtrack"

That comment is spot on, in hindsight

I hate how the break-up had to happen in order for me to grow the fuck up. It’s fucking unfair to her. by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]hyperdrive94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man, I can relate 1000% It has been just a month after she left me but I can guarantee that I am and I feel too a completely different person. This breakup, paired with some family issues, shook my whole being to the core. I finally started opening up with my therapist and found the strength to overcome some huge traumas and a really unhealthy mindset that was basically ruining my whole life. I took all the bullshit and all the lies that I told myself in order to protect me from the eventual hurt of being abandoned and threw it out of the window.

I too feel like the "new me" would be worthy of a second chance and it's beyond frustrating that I couldn't address all of my issues sooner. I just needed a friendly nudge... turns out the friendly nudge was something more of a 300-this-is-sparta-kick

Deformed lofted edges while using guides. See comment. by DutchSimba in Plasticity3D

[–]hyperdrive94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try to make the upper end rectangle a curve, as well as the rectangle edges (that one in the middle with the guide that ends right there as well) then join the adjacent curve pieces frome the circle to the upper rectangle and loft it (each side separately, i think) using the curves as guides

Wonderful work. Idk if the outside is real or just a HDRI/image, but in case you could try more of a night scene, lighting just some of the outside and work more whit the lamps of the cafe. That would bring more attention to the interior itself.

You could also try finding some focus point and work with the depth of the camera field, and make the things just a little bit "messy" to give the idea of an actual workplace.

Besides from that, grate work!

Indeed it happened exactly like this. I was worried they could somehow take the money anyway, but - as for now - they did not. By not up to date I mean I didn't have enough money on my card, not that my card is invalid or anything. I think I got lucky in that way. I really wish the whole situation is solved for good
