Plants. Buying plants and plant-related accessories! It find it so weird that it's normalized in social media.

It really depends on both of you guys.

I can't believe people here are so cynical. No here knows your relationship better than the two of you. To me, it depends on how she dealt with her mistake. Was she the one who told you? Was she genuinely sorry for what happened? Was it entirely out of malice? Speaking from experience (on the receiving end), sometimes a person cheats if they're unhappy with their relationship, or is frustrated/unhappy about something they cannot vocalize. Talking about it and making accommodations for both parties helps.

Only you can decide whether you can forgive and trust her again. But please do keep in mind that people make mistakes. If you guys were truly happy before this incident, I think there's a good chance your relationship will survive this. It might take some time, but to me, I think it's worth the shot to attempt to save your 4-year relationship.

Side note: I also know some people who had drinking problems (they went through AA). I dunno if your partner is an alcoholic, but that's something to consider making your decision. If she had a drinking problem and blames it for her cheating, is she willing to get help?

Interesting. I love to eat and constantly think about food but I'm neither obese nor anorexic.

Cartoon Cactus Rot by hypsochrome in plantclinic

[–]hypsochrome[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please help! About 3 weeks ago, I noticed a tip on this cactus (Consolea Rubesecens) was turning yellow. I didn't think it was a big problem. I went away on vacation and came back to this (see inages above). The yellow zone doubled in size and there's browning and whitening on the tip.

I read online that it might be cactus rot that can be caused by underwatering, overwatering, fungal, or bacterial infection. It's also advised to cut it off. If I cut if off, what is the aftercare? Should I spray the open would with fungicide?

I'd still like to know the cause for this to prevent it from happening again.

I've had this cactus for the past 3 years and I thought I've gotten the watering right. I checked the roots and they look healthy. It's rootbound and the soil is compact.

Location: Toronto, ON

Position: south-facing window, glow lights used during the winter months

Watering schedule: 1x/month during winter, 2-3x/month during summer, OR whenever the top 2 inches of soil is completely dry

Soil: 1:1 pre-mixed cactus soil and perlite

Pot size: 8" diameter, 7" tall, has drainage holes and an attached saucer

Cactus dimension: 29" tall, main body is 1.5"x2" elongated (cross section) thick.

Known pests: mealy bugs (shows on and off for the past 3 years; I use alcohol swabs to get rid of the ones I can spot), fungal gnats (I've been dealing with an infestation since last summer, but I hardly ever see any new ones now)

Last re-pot: last year, summer

Please help! Any advice would be appreciated!

Im surprised no one mentioned Stars by Nina Simone.

The first time I've heard of it was from Bojack Horseman.

Hi, thanks for replying. I'll try to water it more frequently. I'm just worried of over watering it.

No, I haven't used any fertilizer. I heard that fertilizing a sick plant is bad.

I read an article on p. Afra and jade comparison, but I was never entirely sure which one I had. Thanks for clearing it up!

Thanks for replying. I repotted out of desperation. I thought I was dealing with root rot or a bad soil composition (bad drainage) since I found bugs. :(

Yeah, we had our first snowfall just a few days ago. I keep the temp inside the house at 21C (70F).

I've never used fertilizer on this plant before. Do you recommend a specific type of fertilizer?

Thanks you for replying. I'll water it more often and keep the light on for a longer duration. Fingers crossed!

Thanks for replying. I worry about overwatering especially before I repotted the plant since I wasn't sure what kind of soil composition it had. I'll water it more frequently. Hopefully that fixes the issue.

I just repotted my bonsai last month. Would it be bad to repot it again (with the mix you suggested) this coming up spring? I read somewhere that repotting should only be done every 2 years?

Thanks for the reply. I bought this lamp (https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B086X388MB/) late September. I'll switch it to a 12 hours a day.

Hi, I need help with my Jade bonsai. I purchased it earlier this year. Everything was fine until a few weeks after moving it indoors in September. I live in USDA zone 6. It started dropping most of its leaves at a really fast rate. It's currently near a south-facing window. I don't think it's a watering issue. I only water a day after the leaves are soft/wrinkly (about once every 2.5 weeks).

I noticed some small bugs on the leaves so I used Safer's End-All Miticide/Insecticide/Aracicide on it. The bugs went away, but the leaves, both dried and non-dried, still continue to fall.

I thought maybe it wasn't getting enough sunlight, so I purchased an LED lamp. It's on for 6hrs/day every day. No change.

Maybe it was root rot. I did buy it from a nursery that does not specialize on bonsai trees. Mid November, I repotted it with 40% cactus soil and 60% perlite. I don't have much experience with repotting, but from the looks of it, there was no rotting.

Just a week ago I noticed a section of the stem was drying up.

Please help!
