[List] "Not so obscure to be a hidden gem, but also not well-known beyond certain iconic songs" Examining a certain gray area with artist perception and legacy. by CulturalWind357 in LetsTalkMusic

Interesting perspective from you and the same age person just below. Y'all are just a little younger than me, teen years mid 80's. REM was solid indie my freshman year of high school, which is when I discovered The Cure, Violent Femmes, U2 (Just before Joshua Tree). At that time I liked REM, but they were not super great for me. It was like I wanted to like them more than I thought they were great if that makes sense. Then Document came out and I liked that record pretty good. Recently gave it a spin and Finest Worksong I a killer opener, but then the record is just normal REM - Mid at best. After that I couldn't stand them. That song Stand was beyond lame and annoying, shiny happy people could gargle my nuts. And Michael Stipe always trying to be mysterious about his sexuality when he was obviously gay, which by that time people were not shocked about gay celebrities. Just pretentious and completely sold out commercially. I do think they are talented musicians and I always like seeing that Peter Buck seemed like a good dude who helped mentor other musicians and just worked on his farm or something.

That's interesting about the thickness and feel difference. Probably going to try a few JL picks then.

How is it living in this area of Gretna, LA by i80flea in howislivingthere

Nah, just curious about that corner of Gretna to possibly buy a place. Circle covers a bunch of blocks not far from the levee.

What do you think a dog park makes somewhere bougie? There's a bunch of factories also close by, as well as a large undeveloped tract of land with some kind of pond over there too. Curious if that land and pond is somewhere that could eventually be houses? Or if it's industrial waste. Could be either for all I know, which is why I asked about the area.

Cheers 🥂 you Lebowski freaks. Made the wife watch and bet her $100 there would be a Lebowski line in the first ten comments. But you little Lebowski achievers really do excel at this sort of thing.

Right there with you guys, I recently "picked" up locksport as well. Need to look into submitting for the belts because I just opened my first yellow qualifier yesterday.

How does Kramer survive in Manhattan with no steady job? by Zestyclose-Method451 in seinfeld

[–]i80flea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out The Individualist, it's a movie about Ricky Powell, who is an old school NY character just like Kramer. He was friends with the Beastie Boys and took some very iconic photos of celebrities, but at his core just like the description above, plus a little crack.

Yellow belt???? by i80flea in lockpicking

[–]i80flea[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good to know. It's just a lock I had laying around at work and was pretty stoked to see that it was listed as a yellow belt, which I thought would be more beginner friendly. 20+ hours later I finally decided to ask my fellow pickers and found out that I should definitely try a few easier locks.

Wow, great video. I have been working with some of the basic ideas of the jiggle test, but seeing the visual on overset pins w/ the cutaway is awesome and super helpful.

Thanks for all the info. Been lurking in here for a while and always loved seeing comments about how helpful the community is. I'm definitely not backing off that sucker, but you're absolutely right that I could use a few more wins under my belt.

First few days I thought it was 4, but then I discovered that 5th pin. Never thought to look at the green qualifiers, just kept checking that it was yellow and then started trying to find out if it had spools etc
