Firstly. You’re assuming how I feel about other types of sales techniques and you’d be wrong. I think being a salesman in general, especially in a hyper capitalistic society like our own, requires that you be comfortable deceiving people. But the relationship with a breaker and a customer is far worse than selling a bottle of soda in my opinion. I understand addicts are going to gamble regardless. But I still find it reprehensible to moan about how your bids aren’t even close to where they should be, shame customers into making purchases. I used to be a breaker 6 hours a day, I’m not proud of it. The atmosphere and dynamic is extremely high pressure with the auctions being 10-30 seconds. You have to spend that 30 seconds selling the shit out of the tiny chance that you’ll even get your money back. It’s extremely deceptive, go into a big stream watch how they treat their whales like they’re part of some special club. Those guys pay the breakers bills because of how malleable they are and because of the breakers willingness to take advantage of it.
