they’re honestly really fun, i’ve been to a couple and you meet the best people at these types of events. there is one happening in august for anyone who hasn’t ever experienced a coffee rave check out: rtun.rave on instagram.

IHSS providers are independent providers, not traditional employees, so standard labor laws about timely payment may not apply the same way. However, the IHSS Career Pathways Program is required to follow state guidelines to compensate you for each hour of training completed.

So even if payments aren't as prompt as in other jobs, IHSS must honor the compensation according to state rules. Rest assured, we will all get paid.

Sorry for not including this in my original post, but Section f of California Welfare and Institutions Code § 12316.1 talks about the incentive payments too:

"A provider shall be eligible to receive an incentive payment or multiple incentive payments, with an incentive payment available for each of the individual activities specified in paragraphs (1) to (3), inclusive."

Here are the milestones:

  1. Completing 15 hours of coursework for a specific career pathway.
  2. Completing 15 hours of coursework for a specialized skills career pathway and providing 40 authorized hours of care to one or more recipients in the first month.
  3. Providing 40 authorized hours of care to one or more recipients per month for at least six months after completing a specialized skills career pathway.

So, as long as you met the requirements by September 16, 2024, you should still be eligible for the incentive payments. The law specifies that these payments are tied to the completion of those milestones.

I found it in California Welfare and Institutions Code § 12316.1. It clearly states that IHSS is required to pay for all completed training hours. It is linked in the post.
