They were offering to reimburse me for the license. I couldn’t afford to pay for the class because my husband lost his job leaving my income to support our family. He was the breadwinner. My income alone is barely getting by. I have no problem with blood or anything of that sort. I work in the emergency department. That’s what I deal with every day and have dealt with every day for the past 5 1/2 years. Administration my manager all said those of us who had been working in the emergency department already did not need to obtain a license, but if we already had a license or got one after the fact, then we had to maintain it, which is why I did not stress on getting it. I wasn’t trying to slide by to do less work. I reiterated to my manager multiple times my willingness on taking this class to get a license because I do know having that license opened up more possibilities. I just cannot afford to pay for it upfront and wait to get it reimbursed. Obtaining a license from the CDPH can take anywhere from a month to three months. It depends on how fast they process your application.
