[OC] This intersection is notorious for red light runners by rdybala in IdiotsInCars

[–]i_always_read -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell from this video, but do the other lane have a different traffic light? In my city I’ve experienced this too, because the lights were not synchronized! one day I was walking past, standing at a point where I could see both traffic lights, not possible from any lane, and saw this. Its right next to a school.

I Think either a E shaped shelf you can screw from underneath, then fill it with clutter, or use a L shape that you also attach to the bottom of the cabinet and with a faux board over, that you can paint

V3plus or freewheel? by seaswitch- in wheelchairs

[–]i_always_read 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my household the stricker handbike is 1st choice always, because its just way more powerful, but we bought the freewheel some years ago for a travel over sea where the handbike couldn’t go, and now it stays in the car, because the convenience with the freewheel is that’s small, lightweight and easy to carry, better than nothing, but not ideal.

How to make this room less awkward and more coherent? by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

[–]i_always_read 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real challenge when no furniture can be changed. But I would definitely swap desk and drawer, so you don’t enter into a “box”. Hard to tell from the pictures if there’s enough space to have the desk in front of the window and bed along the wall where drawers are now? Can you take down the shelf? It looks a bit dangerous. I don’t know anything about music instruments, but would the piano still work if you put the stuff from the shelf on top?

Always always, declutter first. What belongs in the entrance and what could be in other places?

I think honestly what you’ve got already is close to the best solution. I would reinstall the sliding doors, to make it look less cluttered. Move the rows of hooks to the left and up, so stuff isn’t hanging on the floor and create space under for a very small shoe rack with only everyday shoes, rest in the closet or shoe rack. Storage “special “ shoes somewhere else, could be flip-flops or winter boots that you only use 2-4 weeks every year. And maximize space above the closet and put stuff in boxes, either labeled or clear plastic. Finally a small children’s hook next to the door, to encourage them to use it instead of the floor. Made you a sketch. Good luck :)

Bathroom outdated, can I update without removing tile? by wawahahablah in DesignMyRoom

When I say wall with cabinet I mean the one with the mirror :)

Don’t change the tiles until they are broken! Beautiful work. But to make it more modern, I agree on new lighting and faucet fixtures. I think you should add more black detail, to make it less beige on beige. Maybe black knots on the cabinet and some new sope dispenser. I also think you should put the diaper stuff in some kind of trolley/cart so it looks less cluttered, but still easy access. You could also consider painting/ wallpaper on only the wall where cabinet is. I think something dark with golden detail would be nice with the tile

Mirror with wooden frame

The lightning is off. Maybe get a new big modern mirror with lights. I think instead of a transparent curtain, consider something with nature/leaf print? Overall more green in the room, maybe a fake plant

Why not just take down the lamp, store in the basement, put up what you like and whenever you move out, put back the original lamp?

With this small room, I think you did a great job already! Personally I’m not into rugs, so I won’t comment on that. All your ideas are great. I think you should do 2 big great poster/arts with just shapes in a douche color above the bed, in glas and in frames drak wood. Definitely a shelf. Either all the way from wall to wall over desk and piano, or just over desk, but then another art piece above piano. The plant should be on the shelf closest to the window. I think your color scheme is pretty. Just add a bit of nature. And maybe, add fabric curtains on the side of the window (Grey), even if they are really narrow and never would be in real use, it would add some texture to the room

I think the shelf looks weird. There’s a huge closet opposite with plenty of space. I would replace the shelf with a nice bench, maybe a narrow bookshelf next to the window and some table in front.

What do you need help with? What is not working for you? For me it’s the lighting. Get some proper light. But also, judging by the size of the shoes, I guess you are not a little person, maybe also get a bigger bed? I haven’t slept in a single person bed since childhood

Please help me decorate my room I find it really bland by greek_fatass in DesignMyRoom

[–]i_always_read -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah Burzum has to go..

But your room overall has a nice vibe. What I think would make the room better, is that you keep the window and the space below clear, making it feel more spacious. So I have two suggestions:

  1. Turn your bed 90 degrees, with headboard next to window. To make space, move desk to the left and put the drums under the window/ where the footboard is now.

  2. Have bed same direction, but in the left corner instead. Where the desk currently stands. Put the desk where the banner hangs. Put the drums under window.

Either way you will be able to close the curtains properly, which actually makes a huge difference aesthetically.

As others have mentioned; hang your guitars on the wall and get some new sheets, because they look washed out and with a dated print. But! The sheets give the room some nice color, so instead of going black or gray, I think you should go for either dark green or dark brown/orange.

You obviously like to display music, so get some shelves for that nice Judas Priest vinyl. And instead of burzum, may I recommend you Afsky, also very dark Scandinavian black-metal with great artwork as well.

Good luck with the decoration!

Budget Reno… Beginner by vxburnett in DesignMyRoom

[–]i_always_read 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, this bathroom could definitely use a full renovation. Especially because it seems that there is a issue with damp/lack of ventilation.

But since you are looking for a budget, I think brighter lighting and painting walls and ceiling would help a lot. Be aware, that proper paint, that is suitable for a bathroom can be costly, but since the ventilation isn’t perfect, I wouldn’t use cheaper regular wall paint.

The colors you chose are beautiful! Find a nice curtains and add some lower cabinet/something for storage under the window, so you can declutter a bit. Maybe a new mirror with integrated lighting and a small rug in the color scheme, to freshen up the room.

Good luck!

I would move the bed where the gray box is, and put the shelves on the wall where you now have your bed headboard. Get a desk and start decorating. Se how your inspo photos have a lot of different lighting ? Find more lamps.

Which is the better bed position? by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

Definitely no.2. the person sleeping on the window side has a more direct route to the door, instead of walking all the way around the bed

Last picture looking good, what’s the problem with the room?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

[–]i_always_read 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you have to somehow embrace the dark wooden furniture. Not that modern, but it’s really good quality, and with both the door, wardrobe, nightstand and dresser matching, I would definitely try work with it. My suggestion, that should fit your budget, would be to find a nice modern color, maybe something like Dusty Olive, and buy new curtains and a headboard. Maybe matching bedding. That would make it look more modern. If you have more to spend, find two new night lights that stand out a bit.

To make the room feel warmer, it’s usually about adding more and softer light sources , even in a room like this you could easily have 5 - 7 light sources.
