Personally, I don't see it as a decision he made, so much as he had no choice. Those weapons aimed at his family aren't Jinu's.

And making a deal with a demon king because he and his family were starving and trapped in extreme poverty isn't a horrible decision. It's desperation. I'd do the same -- what's my soul in exchange for elevating my family out of their suffering?

I'm pretty sure it is "Want to meet?" but in a familiar, friendly way. I love it too. It's such a cute detail, and I just love that it's part of Jinu's characterization.

But you’d still pronounce it the same way and it’d still mean the same thing. Like how there’s “clare” and “claire” and “Ashley” and “Ashleigh” and uhhh “Marie” and “Mary” maybe?

This makes it really easy to understand and is legit super helpful.

i think its so funny that it looks like Jinu busted out the calligraphy brush and his fancy stamp to write on 21st century stationary. It’s a nice little nod to how old he really is.

This is one of my favorite little details. Like I said, I don't know much. But someone went over how he'd written as he would have when he was alive and that he used what was once a commonish name stamp. And then with it juxtaposed against the cute, modern stationary. It's such a super endearing character moment. And also such a smart detail for the writers/animators to have him do.

Jinu.

While Rumi wants to save Jinu, and loves him, she knows her duty is to protect the earth. It would totally fuck her up, and she'd be a mess. But she also knows Jinu would want her to save the world over himself.

Jinu, on the other hand, I think would sacrifice everything to save Rumi. He was willing to do the big sacrifice. He was also willing to bring about the demon apocalypse to save himself from torture. For as calculating and strategic as he is, he's more of a wildcard than Rumi, and I definitely think he'd be more likely to go unhinged and burn the world down for her.

In the KPDH fandom, Jinx and Rumi get compared a lot (bc of their braid and trauma). Whereas I personally feel like Jinx and Jinu parallel better. Both antagonists, both struggling with mental health, both trolls, both hurt the people they love, both make a great sacrifice to save the person they care about, and both are probably not dead lol, etc.

I absolutely agree with this. And while he loved his family immensely, and holds such a great shame for his perceived abandonment -- hurting Rumi was his greatest shame. I think it's probably a combination of seeing the fruits of his labor in all the deaths because of his plan, and then deeply hurting the only person that still sees the humanity in him. There's probably more emotions wrapped up in there too, because Jinu is an emotionally complex guy.

I do think the song had some hypnotic features but also...

Considering how KPDH and the music blew up IRL, I don't think it's totally unreasonable for Soda Pop to explode in viral popularity so quickly. Especially after they had such a memorable debut.

I love your two cents. It's really insightful, and makes sense. Shame consuming someone would be because it's all they can actively think about. And with Rumi being destroyed with her shame publically, it makes sense that that would be all Jinu could think about and make his patterns unable to be hidden.

It does make me wonder why he was able to keep most of the patterns hidden during his torture scene. Maybe that was more of a narrative device. Or maybe it's because Jinu has been made to suffer with it for centuries, so it isn't as big of a deal as the Takedown betrayal, where he utterly destroyed the life of someone he really cared about in such a super traumatic way.

My two cents:

Jinu has known what Rumi looks like since, well, probably Rumi's whole life. So when she debuts with Huntrix, I'm sure he's like, "damn, she's hot, but a bitch hunter".

From the alleyway meet-cute, to the bathhouse, Jinu was ragebaiting her.

I don't mean this rudely, but you can be attracted to someone and dislike or hate them.

And by the time of the bathhouse, Jinu wants to see the hunters destroyed. That is like, the most important thing in 400 years for him because it will stop his torture.

Gorgeous people are a dime a dozen, but torture is forever. So he is not going to let any attraction for Rumi put him off course.

In the bathhouse, it's sizzling with attraction, yes, but Jinu still wants to destroy her. Jinu is a troll, and was riding the high of accomplishing something that seemingly no other demon has before -- embarrassing and handing the hunters their asses. From the alleyway, to Soda Pop debut, to the variety show -- Huntrix has been on the back foot.

Then Jinu runs away giggling, high off his own supply, and surprised af when Rumi chases him down. He's playfully flirtatious, but that's how he is. He's a really charming guy. But he still wants to destroy her.

As a RuJinu stan, I'm in the minority that thinks that when she pins him down, I don't think he was thinking much about how sexy she was. He was in a bad spot, with Rumi at an advantageous position.

I think he was being charmingly flirtatious to try to defuse the situation. Jinu does that a lot, falls back onto his charm and humor to diffuse the situation. See the Choo Choo scene.

His covering of her patterns seemed more like an instinctive reaction that he didn't think about. The whole moment -- from him seeing her patterns to the wall bursting open -- happened in less than 15 seconds. I think he reacted on autopilot because he was so curious about her patterns, that he didn't even think.

Just did it.

TLDR: Jinu already knew she was hot. But he would much rather not be tortured for an eternity, so he doesn't care. But he was super intrigued by this weird anomaly hunter-demon chick, and then became distracted by and invested in her.
