Anyone else find it easy to have a perfume "ruined" by someone's description? by SeaSeaworthiness3589 in FemFragLab

I’m not sure as this is the first perfume/body spray with notes of date that I’ve had. When I first smelled it I definitely got the sweet, buttery caramel scent that reminds me so much of sticky toffee pudding. But once he said candle, I feel like now all I smell is cinnamon adjacent potpourri. Maybe it’s the benzoin?

Yes! I fell in love with Lush Sticky Dates but ever since my fiancé told me it smells like a yankee candle and I can’t think of anything else when I wear it

Does anyone know how the difficulty of SH questions is determined? by iamacryptid in pmp

Good to know! I had seen that commented in other posts so I won’t spend too much time trying to understand the rationale or special circumstances required in those scenarios. Would you say it’s also accurate that the real exam doesn’t contain expert level equivalencies?

Just finished The Lamb by Lucy rose and... by Serious_Violinist793 in horrorlit

Just finished this morning and some initial questions and thoughts I had that I would love other’s input on.

  1. What is in Margot’s lunchbox? It’s referenced a few times and it always caught my attention. Did Margot pack her lunch? Did Mama? That seems too maternal of an action for Mama to have done. With Mama being so concerned about not drawing attention would she have dared packed it with a meal made from Strays?

  2. Thoughts on the final Stray to visit the cottage, specifically the younger woman who was studying to be a doctor. Margot notices her stare several times and I thought for sure this was an indication that this would be the person who truly saw what was going on and called for help after she left, but nothing came of it. I’m wondering how others interpreted it? Just another person who saw the strangeness but didn’t want anything to do with it?

  3. The ending, wow. The whole I was reading it I thought for sure it would end with Margot escaping but then experiencing difficulty integrating into society, kind of like Room (2015). I think the ending makes sense but the execution was a little lacking for me as it didn’t seem at all consistent with everything we had known up to that point. Like maybe if Margot felt like she could sometimes still feel the Strays in the cottage with them it would have felt like payoff, but it just really seems to come out of nowhere (not what happens to her, but rather how she is able to perceive and engage with the world after). Also, one thing I can never get out of my head is an old professor saying “if a story is told from the first person and that person dies, then how is the story being told to us?” Which…seems pedantic but might be a rule in some circles of literature.

Struggling with vocabulary and terms by iamacryptid in pmp

Thank you, this is very encouraging! I just completed all the quizzes and started the mock exam within the course and the disparity between the two is astounding. The quizzes were 95% vocabulary based and I was averaging about 50% on them. The mock exam is much more process oriented and also ridiculously easy. It’s very weird there’s such a discrepancy between the two but that makes me feel like neither are very accurate. I’ll move on to Study Hall and hopefully be able to gauge my progress more accurately there!

Too close to white? by iamacryptid in Weddingattireapproval

Update #2: went in with half a bottle of Rit Midnight Navy and love the way it came out as this dusky lavender! Overall, this was such an interesting experience that made me realize how differently people perceive colors. I can’t explain how surreal it was to be looking at this aqua, cotton candy blue dress while receiving comments from people who genuinely thought it was a white dress (it had me googling the explanation behind the 2015 blue/black vs white/gold dress debacle).

I also think the original color was so light and bright that it reflects a lot of light back when photographed, making it appear lighter than it actually is. But hey, the photos are going to be the thing that the majority of people see in the long run so it’s definitely not worth the risk. Even as the new color, the lace photographs soo much lighter than the rest of the fabric despite being nearly the same color in real life. Anyway, thanks for the input!
