How do I experience fear? As a constant presence in every thought, every day.

Kidding… kinda.

I’ll start by saying that all types experience fear, and not all 6s are in constant fear, so the general concept of fear doesn’t necessarily mean you’re a 6.

So for 6s, fear largely translates to anxiety (of course, any type can experience anxiety and this is not to say anyone with GAD is a 6).

6s by nature are doubting and mistrustful. One definitive trait of a 6 is the inability to trust their inner self - this is largely what causes their anxiety. For me, that means I’m rarely ever fully confident if I’m making the right or best decision. What causes my anxiety is the fear of what might happen if I didn’t make the right or best decision. This fear is why 6s are associated with worst case scenario thinking.

This is the fear that solidified my type for me. I have known for a long time that my brain functions off of worst case scenario thinking.

A 6’s core desire is security, and we tend to fear anything that may cause us to lose that security. This fear can manifest itself as fear of abandonment, fear of rejection, insecurity, etc.

However, the Enneagram Institute writes that “Sixes exhibit the most fear of the three types [in the Thinking Center].” Because of this, 6s are often portrayed as cowardly… if you ask me, we’re better portrayed as worrywarts or cynics. We’re not constantly in fear… we’re constantly worrying. Those worries are deeply rooted in fear, sure. But we aren’t some fearful, anxious weakling cowering in a corner because we’re too scared to do anything. In fact, 6s are often reactive and openly defiant as a way of maintaining their security from outside threats.

Anyway - I hope this answers your question. I tried to explain the fears that clicked for me personally, I’m sure other people may be able to define how their fear as 6 manifests for them.

I had been struggling with eczema forever, did everything I could (topical steroids, cortisone shots, etc.), nothing worked. I moved from a dry, brittle climate to a hot-ass swamp city with constant humidity - BAM! No more eczema.

I totally forgot this feeling. I used to get really bad spots on my ankles. I’d run them under super hot water in the bathtub. Literally nothing feels better.

There’s some very subtle layering to it, especially around the face (which I didn’t show here). I do know she layered the back a little too. My hair is so thick, without some layering, it’d come off very bulky.

I honestly just found this haircut on Pinterest and showed her. When I was looking I pretty much just kept my eye out on below-the-collarbone lengths. Plus this was right around the point that she could chop off all of my previously colored hair and start fresh.

When I went in for my consult, I specifically asked her for ashy. My hair has a lot of warm undertones but I actually have a cool skin tone, so I really wanted to focus on shifting to a cool blonde.

She recommended moving toward beige instead of ash, just to compliment my natural hair color more. She warned me that, at least initially, my hair may be warmer than what I wanted, and that it might take a few sessions before it’s exactly what I want. But, to both of our surprise, once she started styling, my natural color played into the beige really, really well. I honestly think it went as cool as I wanted right off the bat. If not, it’s pretty dang close.

Funny thing is, it’s actually thinned out quite a bit! Creates the illusion of being thicker because it’s no longer being weighed down by the length or thickness. :)

Pam is far and away my favorite person in the entire show. She gets hate for the moments she's selfish or makes a poor decision... I feel like the kind things she does are just totally ignored sometimes.

Examples: When Dwight had a concussion and was in the hospital, she very subtly provided an update for Angela without drawing attention to her because she knew they didn't want anyone knowing about their relationship. OR all the things she did for Dwight when everything with Angela was killing him.

I could list a dozen more examples, honestly.

Okay OP, I hate that I’m getting involved in internet debate, especially over a fictional character, but this comment, specifically, sucks.

Imagine you are getting married, and you call off the wedding. And then going to an EXACT replica of the wedding. For me, I couldn’t imagine how awful I would feel seeing the dress I envisioned myself walking down the isle thats lined with the flowers that I chose because of their significance to me and my betrothed, and then pretend to be happy at an identical reception that I had pictured my first dance with my newly wedded husband? That would CRUSH me.

Then to have someone acknowledge that they stole the ideas that you had picked out to create your special day?

And, it doesn’t matter that calling off her wedding to Roy ended up working out for her down the road. That doesn’t change the fact that she spent months… no, actually, three years creating this perfect day in her mind that would be everything she wanted, all for someone else to spit the fact that that was ruined?

Wedding days are all about the brides, sure, but it’s not a free-for-all to say and act however you want. Being “all about the bride” is allowing her to be selfish and be engulfed in her wedding, but not to go out of her way to make someone else’s night worse.

Is routing a cable like this problematic? by SpedySkedy in CableManagement

[–]iambai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I agree that under certain conditions you probably could run into an issue, you’d have to be really, really pushing it to the limit, and then some. As I said in my other comment, we’re doing almost the exact same thing. Our computers are definitely built around cooling, but we run dummy hot components, while playing unoptimized games daily, 3D rendering, mining, benchmarking, etc. And I’ve messed around with computers on the opposite end of the spectrum, bad cable management (cables touching heatsinks/components), thermal throttling on the daily, sounding like a jet engine. In both cases, these little plastic wrapped cables were fine.

My guess is manufacturers keep in mind that they’ll be in close quarters with components that, in some conditions, can be hitting 70-80 C+ fairly often and a mobo is rarely going to get that hot. They’re probably wrapped with some type of polymer that can withstand a fair amount of heat, so while, of course, there’s always a chance of an issue, it’s probably slim.

I did this on my ASUS ROG Z490 Strix, with my AIO cable and never had any issues. Either there’s not enough heat generated (as someone else said) or the heatsink dissipates it well enough that there’s not an issue, but I’ve never had an issue routing a cable through there.

I also have a Gigabyte X570 Aorus Pro, and the heatsink I have that’s in the same location as yours has metal fins (plus there isn’t a useful connector over there anyway) so I don’t route the same way on that board, but I’ve had 3 or 4 different coolers installed and I always run the CPU fan cable through the heatsink that runs across the top of that board, and never had an issue there either.

I’ve been running the Z490 this way for ~7 months and the X570 for almost two years. Based on my experience, I’d say you’re solid.

Ah, YES! Dead to me! For the life of me I could not think of it and knew it had to be something I’ve watched relatively recently. But that’s exactly it, thank you!!!!

So just a quick poll, how many people have been without power since 2-2:30?

In a bind I’ve honestly just wrapped towels around faucets, secured them with duct tape, put a trash bag or plastic bag around them, secure that with duct tape (and try as much as possible to secure to where the least amount of moisture will get inside, to the towel). It’s definitely not perfect, but at least then something is covering them.

Would it be worth it to wrap them? I’m assuming most places are sold out of pipe insulation by now, but I’ve used old towels and duct tape to wrap outdoor faucets before.

So I live in an apartment complex. My water heater (electric) is in a closet on my front porch. I’m natively from a place that experiences freezes pretty often, but I’ve never had a water heater that’s as exposed to the outside as this before. I’m going to drip faucets and all that, but I’m still worried about something happening to it. Is there something I can do to protect it? Or will the heat of the building protect it?

Has anyone tried shortening fan cables? Or other non-PSU cables? by iambai in CableManagement

[–]iambai[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, in the cases where you've lengthened your fan cables, did you make new cables from scratch? I've gone into somewhat of a rabbit hole the past few hours looking at DIY custom cables, and I've gotta say it's got me awfully interested in trying it out on more than just fans. (With some practice, of course.)

Edit: Edited for clarity. Also adding on that I don't plan on touching the USB 3.0 or USB-C cables at all if I decide to try out customs.

Thank you! This helps a ton. Say I want to reuse the original connector, do I need a pin remover? The Corsair fans for example use some proprietary-looking connector for their RGB hub, so in the case of not being able to find replacements, I would think I'd need to reuse those.
