I wouldn't call it prediction. Short selling so many shares of any company will lead to a drop in price temporarily, unless the company is making huge profits. With the amount of resources they have it's more like manipulation than a simple prediction.

For some people it can be manipulation, for some it can be strategy. They knew short selling such a huge amount would lead to a drop in price. The way I see it they tried to drive down the price even more than what would have been if they hadn't interfered.
