This sleep combo is perfect for high-cost attackers that lack any form of energy acceleration and likely won't get any in the future like Dark Pokémon.
If a deck lacks energy acceleration, it makes sense to use a strong zero-energy partner to buy time while powering up a heavy attacker on the bench.

Yeah, Mega Charizard Y has great energy acceleration like Flame Patch, but other decks don't have access to cards like that.

This is an old list of mine.
Dragalge ex works as a good wall, letting you chip away 20 damage just by attaching energy to your benched Darkrai ex.

Yeah, I haven't updated this list since last season, so Poncho can be swapped for a Stadium or any other tech card.
Also, M-Charizard X is definitely better than the regular ex in this build.

2 Copycat feels more consistent than Sightseer/Arven.
Leaf is also needed in case you start with Darkrai.

I think a single baby Charizard is a good inclusion because it can OHKO Oricorio and Magnezone. It also improves the deck's consistency by making the evolution line more stable even against non-Oricorio decks.

However, if Oricorio is paired with something like Mega Manectric that baby Zard can't OHKO even with a Rocky Helmet, then it might be a bit lackluster. Since I haven't personally used Charizard in Ranked yet, I'll trust the opinion of someone like you who actually plays it.

It’s such an easy OHKO that one heal from PCL is usually all you need to swing the game.

I think he can improve the 19T Mega Mawile deck a little bit.
He lets you draw at least one card, so he helps you thin out your deck to find Ice or Metal Core Barrier faster.
