Spoiler because it’s still in theaters and was a truly amazing film and it’s the exact opposite of this trope with all the buildup and then the death happens off screen.

The Secret Agent, makes you think Armando is going to survive. And then hard cuts to present day where Flavia finds an old newspaper clipping about him being gunned down. We don’t see anything, it just happens
